Toy Galaxy has been doing some really fun little videos on obscure or weird action figures and I thought I'd share the videos here. I'll spoiler them so they don't take much space, but even as a hardcore action figure person like I am (at least as far as old school stuff goes), this was pretty interesting stuff: #1: Star Wars: The Epic Continues {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} #2: Dinosaucers {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} #3: Wonder Bread He-Man {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} #4: Vor-Tech: The forgotten MASK spin-off {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} #5: Parasites: Matchbox's Transformers rip-offs {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} #6: ReAnimator/SOTA series 4 {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} #7: The myth of rocket-firing Boba Fett {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} #8: Robotix {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} #9: Converters: The Transformers knock-offs that weren't knock-offs {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}

The Dinosaucer cartoon was fun enough, but I had no clue merchandise existed for it.
I did have one of those Littlefoot puppets he mentioned in the video though, and they made for good dinosaur play whenever my GI Joes needed a threat to deal with.

I watched the show as a kid, and somehow could still remember the theme into adult hood (hence why I knew of these videos before this, they popped up in a search for Dinosaucers of all things - love these videos btw). It blew my mind that it had toy tie-ins. However, at the same time, I don't remember half the toy-tie ins when I was a kid; I thought most of these cartoons were just that, cartoons. Although I have found out, sorting through junk a few years ago that I did indeed own some of the toys for cartoons I didn't know had tie-ins, somehow I just forgot.

Add me to the list of people that had no idea the Dinosaucers toys existed. I do remember Vor-Tech. Never saw the cartoon but saw the toys and realized they were a MASK ripoff.
As far as Wonder Bread He-man is concerned.... hasn't it been proven fairly well that he wasn't a Wonder Bread mail away? I know on He-man.org there was/is a huge thread all about Wonder Bread/Savage He Man.
I kinda remember one kid in my neighborhood having a He Man that looked odd. We would say it was cause his parents got him from a discount store. I am guessing it was Savage/Wonder Bread He Man.

Mattel says they never did anything of the sort, and the only thing that's "turned up" is a Wonder Bread offer for some cheap trading cards, not figures.

Yea I thought the only connection to wonder bread and He Man had was the trading cards and I have seen mention of a poster.

Episode 11: Space Precinct 2040 is up
I recall watching all of one episode of this show, but I don't recall ever seeing the figures in stores, and this was at the height of my "stopping in Toys R Us every 3-4 days" figure collecting.
PS - random footage of Idris Elba in his first acting role, and poorly dubbed at that.

My next door neighbor Damon had this guy. Never knew what to make of him.
I love this series.

I'm surprised that they've never done a video on wrestling figures, maybe he's just not a wrestling fan. I'm also hoping he covers Sun-Man, or heck, the whole Olmec toys debacle (though the story does get political, so maybe they might want to avoid that).

I messed up. The ARCO video was actually #15 in the series. Here's the actual #14, a look at the failed Justice League TV pilot:
And here's the most recent, #16, featuring Ideal Toy's failed Manglors line:

I think I'll give it a look once I get back from work. I'm not a super huge collector myself but I love this kind of videos (especially thanks to Ashens, and Phelous' Bootleg Zones). It's fascinating ho many weird stories there can be behind these toys (many of which are quite weird in and of themselves).
Also, "Toy Galaxy"? Are they a part of the Galaxy Hole?!

I don't think I've ever seen a wrestling figure in any of their videos, except maybe once in a random thrift store grab bag haul. Olmec would make for an excellent video. Some other things I'd love to see them cover: - Mad Scientist - there was a Disect-an-Alien toy, for pete's sake - Godzilla Gang - a late '70s Mattel quick cash-in using Japanese molds for an Ultraman line - Animax - the '80s toyline that only barely made it out the gate - Speclatron - He-Man + Snowglobe torso = Profit? - Willow - Or, Why didn't Willow get proper action figures and not those glorified "army men"-style figurines - Mission Medecins Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders) - A Kenner-style line meant to fund the charity, but including figures such as "Sick Child," a young boy so skinny from hunger all of his ribs are showing. - Super Amigos - The Super Powers-derived South American line that decided to throw three or four new figures into the line on their own. - The Other World - ARCO's budget fantasy line that included a line of bendie action figures as well as a series of smaller diorama playsets - Computer Warriors - tiny figures hiding inside transforming vehicles disguised as such things as a pencil sharpener and a Pepsi can - The Intruders - The original pre-'80s G.I. Joe started off as a near-realistic look at the military. When it ended they were fighting short cavemen from outer space - Crystar - Marvel's attempt to break into the action figure boom and subsequently forgetting they owned the property - The Corps! - A look at the G.I. Joe knockoff line that has been going on since almost the beginning of the line it was ripping off and has virtually outlasted it on the toy shelves - U.S.-1 - Slot-racing twist with trucks that somehow spun into a cult favorite Marvel series that still gets brought back from time to time - Team America - After Evel Knievel went to prison for a bit, Ideal scrambled to rework their line of his stuff into something different, and somehow roped Marvel into helping them create this atrocity EDITED TO ADD: - Bogglins - those weird rubber hand puppets - Rocks & Bugs & Things - One of Ideal's last hurrahs and an odd line to go out on - Rocky Balboa dropped from G.I. Joe - sure it's been covered before, but the whole situation when it happened was so bizarre

Here's episode 17, and I can already mark one off that list up above.
There are far too many Pepsi-related action figures in history.
