Ring of Honor “A New Dawn”
September 28th, 2013
From the Hopkins Eisenhower Community Center in Hopkins, Minnesota
Commentator: Kevin Kelly
Tonight: an Honor Rumble where the winner gets a shot at the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of the show.
New Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion Adam Cole comes out and proclaims that he will never lose the title. Jay Briscoe comes out and reminds Cole that he never beat him and once he’s been cleared to wrestle he’s coming for him and the title.
For the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships
Monster Mafia vs. reDRagon (champions)
This was a good opening match. I know the guys in Monster Mafia (Ethan Page and Josh Alexander) from the Ontario Indy scene and they’re solid workers.
Winners: reDRagon
Adam Cole joins Kevin Kelly on commentary.
Silas Young vs. Mark Briscoe
This was a solid match but Silas Young losing didn’t surprise me.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Afterwards Silas savagely beats up on Mark Briscoe.
Adrenaline Rush vs. Michael Elgin & Jay Lethal
This was a good f***ing match with some really sloppy bits that made it even more appealing to me.
Winners: Michael Elgin & Jay Lethal
Honor Rumble to determine who gets a shot at the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship in tonight’s main event
Featuring: ACH, Bobby Fish, Cheeseburger, Davey Richards, Delirious, Eddie Edwards, Jay Lethal, Josh Alexander, Kyle O’Reilly, Mark Briscoe, Matt Taven, Michael Bennett, Roderick Strong, Silas Young and TaDarius Thomas
The placement of this match was odd but it was a nice change from the norm. They could sell how beaten up guys were from earlier matches and in the later matches they can sell how beaten up guys are from being in this. Everyone will look strong. Stronger even, because none of them even get and hour rest. That’s a good angle and I don’t mind a Rumble being in the middle of the show if they go with it. If it were all people that didn’t have matches elsewhere in the show I’d prefer it towards the end of the show.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Michael Bennett w/Maria Kanellis vs. Eddie Edwards
This wasn’t that bad a match either. It was pretty funny when Eddie Edwards got the crowd and ring crew to join in on his beating of Michael Bennett.
Winner: Michael Bennett
Jimmy Jacobs vs. Kevin Steen
They hit all their big moves right out of the gates in this one and the match was over after probably five minutes. It felt like a bit of a filler.
Winner: Kevin Steen
Afterwards Michael Bennett comes out and Piledrives both of them.
For the Ring of Honor World Television Championship
Davey Richards vs. Roderick Strong vs. Matt Taven (champion) w/the Hoopla Hotties
I can’t say much other than that this was another solid match but it seemed a little short.
Winner: Matt Taven
For the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship
Mark Briscoe vs. Adam Cole (champion)
This was a good match. Kudos to Mark Briscoe, who took quite a beating in both his other matches tonight at the hands of Silas Young.
Winner: Adam Cole
Afterwards Jay Briscoe and Michael Elgin come out. Jay chases Adam Cole out of the arena while Elgin stands in the ring holding the Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship belt. He then grabs a microphone and says that people should get used to the sight of him holding the belt.

This was a pretty good show. All the matches were good and none relied on too many dives or brawls. Just all good in-ring wrestling. It was almost old school.
Adam Cole was on commentary for most of the show (he didn’t do the first or last two matches) and he was a lot better than other times I’ve heard him.
