Not a fan of Cody Rhodes but I read that he was jealous of Ted jr. He liked the guy but saw that he was going to be the breakout star. If anything Ted had a decent look and it seemed he was to be another Orton clone but it was about 2 weeks into his tag team with Cody you could see he was green. Cody was/is a much better worker, he started off very well IMO. He got boring for me after he dropped the "Undashing" gimmick and had that horrible theme, and then the Team Rhodes Scholars angle with the silly Mustache. His work as Stardust is a bit underrated. Yes he was a jobber but he was pretty damn animated for someone who supposedly hated the gimmick. His performance in and out of the ring for me was at it's best. When he comes back it would be great to see him come full circle and feud with Randy Orton, bring up the Legacy past, build it as something since it was probably a big part of Rhodes learning.

I've been a Cody fan since like the get-go. I could see if he was envious of Ted's look to a degree, since Ted had some size on him, and got the movie, but the pieces never really fell together for Ted Jr. to be a big deal.

I don't think we'll see Cody back in WWE for a long time.

Ted Jr. is probably only second to Magnus in guys I absolutely can't believe were ever pegged to be huge stars at some point.

I could see why Cody would feel slighted as at the time of Legacy I would say they were even talent wise in that they were both good in the ring and both not so good on the mic even though Cody got better while Ted never did. Dibiase had better size though which is probably the main reason why officials saw more upside in him initially. Cody back then was really thin and as a result lacked believability which was a problem that stood out even more with them working in the main event picture. Dibiase looked believable against guys like Cena, Triple H, and Batista while Cody didn't at all.
Cody though had a lot more range and was more versatile in the roles and characters he could play which worked to his advantage when they split up. He also started to fill out physically and get bigger which solved the believability problem he used to have and made working higher on the card much more of possibility for him. Ted on the other hand was miscast as a heel and couldn't make his Million Dollar Man Jr. work. When he turned face it seemed like he was turning it around but by then it was too little too late. I think with Ted unless he was being himself like he was when he was a face he was going to have a tough time portraying gimmicks and connecting with the audience. Cody on the other is someone you can put in different gimmicks face or heel and he can make it work which I would say is the main reason why he's ended up having a much better career.

On paper, I can see it with Ted Jr. Great pedigree, not terrible at anything, in-ring wise, solid, if bland look, but that's fixable. It's unfortunate that he just didn't have that "spark" that huge stars have. To paraphrase Jim Cornette, "he had it all, except.....nobody cared".

Ted was one of many guys who had no business being face. Such as Slick,Adam Bomb,The Bodydonnas,The Miz etc. Guys who were too good at being heels or were just too naturally unlikable.

Nepotism is the only reason anyone remembers Ted Jr rather than him being one of this forum's punchlines like Hade Vansen and Luther Reigns.

Uncomfortably long face to face heavy breathing. Manu. Lotta gay undertones. “Randy Orton, Legacy!”
Legacy in a nutshell.

Forgot "From behind Dibiase, Rhodes LEGACY!", "IT'S A NUDE DAY, IT'S A NUDE GENARASHUN", and not liking to wear pants ever. All of which added those gay undertones that sum up Legacy in a nutshell.

Ted Jr. wasn't bad, he was just the outcome of the Louisville-based CAW machine glitching and making a copy of a blank template

Can you believe that Ted DiBiase Jr. was given the lead role in the 2nd Marine movie?

The Legacy joins Nexus, Cryme Time, Corre and whatever else as latter-day, relatively established groupings that absolutely no one is anticipating a reunion. Seriously, The Legacy lads never really had a chance, being stable-fodder in the age of weekly, multi-hour TV, but even less so when they served a lot of their 2009 being something to prop up the Guest Host era. We all joke about Cena and Orton wrestling a million times, but the number of 6-mans between The Legacy and some combination of Cena/DX/Guest host must be a record.
I guess there was that one time they made HBK tap out, I suppose.

I thought Ted Jr. had a huge upside potential, but just never clicked. The biggest misstep with him was not having him turn on Orton on that one episode where the crowd was hot for him. Nobody ever gave a shit about him again after that.
I think he would have worked better as a face. Instead of having him be the rich heel, have him be a humble philanthropist sort of thing. I seem to recall him showing a bit more charisma towards the end with his Debiase Posse stuff, lame as it was.
