I know that I have read numerous threads about non-fans asking about your interest in it, same with remarks about how "fake" it is or how "gay" it is. Of course, sometimes us fans don't need to give a full in-depth explanation about why we love this stuff. But I wonder if you ever wonder why you do. Don't get me wrong, I have been a fan of this stuff for many years and still remain one, as it's one of those interests that never really went away, only faded enough to the point where I don't follow it like I used to. However, even when watching some old school stuff, while getting enjoyment out of it, I have asked myself, "Why do I like this stuff?"
This is just a question.

It never really goes away for me either, but when I get back into a wrestling mood I will only watch old WWF and WCW matches/promos/segments.
I still get a huge nostalgia kick out of revisiting those times.

No. Not lately anyway.
There was a brief few years where I didn't watch, like I realized it was fake and just wasn't able to appreciate it despite that fact. Maybe from grades 3-5 or so. Then I got back into it hardcore and by 8th grade I was backyard wrestling.

Prior to LU I did because it was not entertaining me anymore since the early 2000's and it felt like I was just watching out of habit.
But LU and the presentation and their storytelling and how they craft the characters cemented why I do love this...I love the storytelling and character side of wrestling and it is why LU is my favourite company.
I love almost anything from 2000 prior because of those same elements but now it is steeped in nostalgia to of course but why I love it have stuck it outt through hand births , necrophelia on a dummy and other botom dwelling events was anwsered by my favourite wresting show going today.

At times. It gave me so much pleasure.
However, the multiple young deaths make me question my love for it as many people I admired as a child were gone by the time I hit 30 and it does kinda depress me thinking about it.

I went through a REAL burn-out around 2009, then again for a lot of 2013-2015. But I always come back because SOMETHING makes me love it again.

I had a sabbatical for four years between 2002 and 2006 but it was due to life moving on and not having access to any of it. I never questioned why I liked it.
Since I came back in '06, I haven't questioned it once outside of immediately post-Benoit.

For me, there's two periods.
1993-2007, where I absolutely loved the business. Even when I couldn't watch Raw and SmackDown every week, I'd try to get videotapes.
Then, the Benoit thing happened.
Since then, between concern over wrestlers' health and lackluster booking, my passion has waned considerably. If it captures my interest, like Punk did in the summer of 2011, I'll still get swept up in it. Sadly, that seems to be the exception and not the rule.
Generally speaking, pro wrestling is something I like and respect rather than something I'm passionate about. I always have respect for the talent, but I just don't feel the need to watch it as often as I once did.

I question why I like WWE as a product more than wrestling in general. I grew to accept that I liked it, why I liked it, and didn't care otherwise years ago.
It's promotions like LU and in the last couple years NJPW that remind me of not only why I love wrestling, but how shitty WWE actually is at pretty much everything. And yet I still watch in hopes that something good happens, or that Vince retires and the stranglehold that is him holding wrestling down is finally released.

And honestly if PPVs were more than the $9.95 a month i spend for the network i probably wouldnt even watch any more.

Sometimes, but strictly the current product of WWE. It’s such an overproduced mess. Lately, i’m been going through the year 1992 (the year I started watching full time) in order and I remember why I love this business so much.

Nope I just go on breaks from WWE and watch old stuff that I know I’ll enjoy I’ve been a fan since I was old enough for my mom to put me infront of the tv for hours on end while she’d smoke cigarettes and girl talk with her gal pals I’ve had many friends that either were never fans and were baffled as to why I watch that crap or they were fans when the business was super hot and then quickly lost interest while I never have I’ve always watched some form of wrestling.
I’m not the average insider fan because I don’t care about star ratings and I’m a naturally positive person maybe too positive in that it takes a lot to bring the negative out but once it’s out it’s hard to bring me back to the positive. All I want out of my wrestling it a episodic product that I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time getting invested in,Characters that I care about, decent promos that feel natural, interesting stories and some decent wrestling and I’d be fine with only having a show with a couple of those things but when I don’t get that I go back to my sweet spot of wwf 85 thru 01 nwa 85 thru 89 world class 82 thru 84 wcw 92,96 and 97.

No. The backstage shenanigans of the industry are endlessly entertaining, and there’s enough talented performers to make at least some of the in ring product worth a watch at any given time.
