You know the ones. The stories that pop(ped) up time and again with no credence (usually credited to Meltzer without him having said or written word one about it), that were just people making stuff up.
The Sid return (years before he turned up to murder Heath Slater) I guess would be the classic one but this thread occurred to me on the basis of the thread about OVW.
Dan Rodman. Formerly Dan Rodimer of million dollar tough enough and DSW 'star'.
Apparently Steph wanted to call him up and push him in a big way. The story seemed largely founded on a few dark match appearances and used as a stick to beat Steph with without any real basis (I'm a Steph fan but I know those who don't like her don't have to reach far to find actual reasons to criticise).
I actually wanted it to happen though having read an interview with the guy and seen some tapes that showed DSW training along with some shows. From that day to this I have yet to see/read someone with less self awareness. He was terrible at everything and would have absolutely died on his arse on TV. I wanted to see it for the car crash potential.

In some alternate timeline Dan Rodimer is married to Steph and running the WWE. Also in this timeline: the WWE has somehow lost to TNA.
No clue if she wanted to push the dude or not, but it makes a pretty funny story, because that dude was terrible.

In any case, she didn't.

Rodimer randomly worked a then-WWE Champion John Cena at a RAW house show in like 2007 didn’t he? They clearly had big plans of some sort for him at one point.

Anyone else hear the rumor Kane may be joining DX soon and start wearing green? Which Kane? The one who originally played The Undertaker?

Thing is, that period of WWE was marked by a very specific idea that everyone was a major star in a sink or swim position where they showed up with BIG PLANS and then almost immediately fell off the face of the earth because almost all of them were bad. Like that was sort of the default mode for debuting in WWE. Everyone was a potential top guy until they ended up ust kind of vanishing.

Wasn't the Rodimer thing because Steph thought that he was "cute" and would be a hit with the female audience?
Also the story about her seeing Yoshihiro Asai (aka Ultimo Dragon) unmasked and finding him very handsome and wanting him to wrestle unmasked.

Anyone else hear the rumor Kane may be joining DX soon and start wearing green? Yup kept seeing this non stop. Even in the mid 2000s, you'd see this in dirt sheet sites trying to get you to click their link During that time you would also see a story about Abyss joining WWE all of the time

Yokozuna and Al Issacs...... Scoops!! Are you referring to the unending barrage of "As soon as he loses 100 lbs., Yokozuna = new Hart Foundation recruit! Wait, no, new NWO recruit!"
