while they don't bother me too much, I consider them just a cheap way to postwh***. It'd be interesting to see IF we moved them to a section where we can disable the postcount, will they maintain their popularity?

[glow=hotpink,1,300]I don't know about everyone else but I'd still enjoy them, it's just a bunch of posters having fun and talking about nothing and nonsence, it's like WCW the Russo years, nonsence but still fun, and a "spam" area with disabled postcounts seems like a pretty good idea, it works on another forum I'm on, and it's the most popular section, even though only posts outside of that area allow you to gain points to download roms[/glow]

I`m not bothered. I haven`t ever even clicked on one of them because it`s not my thing. That said I`m not going to say they should go bevause I don`t read them or involve myself.

Does anyone really care about postcounts? Why can't we make the whole board postcount free?
Also, I can't see the problem with the chat threads. Keep 'em.

I don't really care either way, what's far more annoying to me is the 5+ tournaments on the front page most of the time.

If you take a glance at OT, you can see that a lot of the posters here define their status and importance via their postcount and see the need to give themselves a digital BJ with self-congratulatory thread. So I'm fairly certain that a poll on whether to kill the postcount would result in a resounding no. Sad but true. To us mods, however, postcount doesn't matter a thing. We consider all of you equals here and a high postcount will not keep you safe from sanctioning.

Then rather than ban chat threads can`t you get rid of "My 4000th Post Extravaganza!!!" threads?

Then rather than ban chat threads can`t you get rid of "My 4000th Post Extravaganza!!!" threads? sadly, and contrary to popular opinions, there is no censorship of this kind here. we can only appeal to common sense and hope that people will get over it. As some have experienced, stubborn postcountwh** may find themselves customized, but that's about it. I can only stress it again, postcounts don't mean squat people, it's just a number, not an extension or expansion of your egos.

You're all going to be crushed under our bootheels regardless of postcount. ;D I don't see a problem with them. It's all in good fun and all in one thread and I can't see how it would bother anyone.

I think Chat threads actually clear up some of the traffic that would go into separate threads in the OT section, rather than 5 or 6 different things that would be in separate threads. Besides it is good clean fun.

At first, I thought it was ok, but some posters who post in there are making an additional 500-2,000 posts per day Even I'm not that bad

I dont see the problem. As far as i can see there is only one open at a time, so there really isnt any legitimate claim to board clogging. As far as post count..look at mine..I've been here for about 18 months so obviously I dont care..

Heck if anything they provided a valuable service by A) Keeping folks from chat/spamming other threads and B) Keeping the "OMG LASHLEY WON!!!!!11!!" threads to a minimum as that stuff is hashed out in "Chat".

Surely the chat threads keep all the random crap away from the rest of Off Topic.
I quite enjoy them.

Where are all of the people voting no? EXPLAIN YOURSELVES, COWARDS! um.. isn't the point of an anonymous poll so that people can remain nameless and not be called cowards ?

The polls aren't entirely anonymous. Mods can see who votes. Also, I just want to see the other side's point of view.

Really? On a Proboards forum that I mod, there's a little thing to click that says "View poll voters." Guess you guys don't have it here. I was wrong.
