So yeah that whole feud was just Batista constantly shitting on Cena but it served its purpose since it was something that people had been waiting on for a while. It helped that Batista was on his A game and was able to carry a good bulk of that feud on the mic which wasn't something you would have expected a few years earlier
How would you grade the Batista/Cena feud?

It is easily Big Dave's best work as a wrestler. I live Douche-tista!

My favorite run of Batista. Speaking of him, he was supposed to do the local comic-con here this weekend. I was going to buy the blue-tista action figure and have him sign it. Right before I bought it, I went to confirm he was still coming and he had cancelled.

Wasn't it during that feud we got the "I hate you Batista!" kid?

It felt typical that for years he'd been a boring babyface that I couldn't stand.
Then he turned heel, became incredibly fun and entertaining to watch, and 6 months later he was finished. We missed out of years of fun with heel Batista.

It is easily Big Dave's best work as a wrestler. I live Douche-tista! Batista saved the lame "duct tape" Last Man Standing finish with that hilarious promo on Raw the following night.

Batista, as a character, was always an asshole, anyway, so it felt natural. It was refreshing after his utterly mediocre work as Smackdown's top face, which was sometimes good, but usually kinda uninspired near the end, not helped by having zero chemistry with Booker T.

Best part of this run was the hilarious guessing game of what Batista would wear. One night he would be village people Batista Or another week he would be Polo enthusiast Batista

I was kinda worn out on Batista as a face but he turned heel and it was just so much fun. It made me a Big Dave fan and that was only reinforced by his role as Drax in the GOTG movies.

Batista gets painted in some circles as a bit of a no talent hoss, but when you look at his body of work, the number ofor good matches and moments (whether unintentionally entertaining or not) he had an amazing few years on top.

Douchetista was great. You can tell when someone genuinely enjoys what they are doing - that was heel Batista.

Yeah, a lot of the mannerisms and expressions Batista was able to do during this run were the ones that got him over in the first place when he was a heel. Towards the twilight of his Evolution run he already showed glimpses of the more over the top sneering villain like here. While I definitely don't think it was a mistake to turn him face and run with it, I think they ran with it too long honestly. As others had said, about halfway through his top face run on Smackdown he started really losing steam. Not at all helped by the few injuries he had during that time and him always coming back the same ole face Batista every time.
The heel turn reminded everyone of what he was capable of as a performer and freshened up a character that hadn't had any real progression since it broke away from Evolution which is nuts when you think about it.

Douchetista is one of my all-time favourite characters.
Will never forget the time he got five straight minutes of boos on Smackdown without saying a word.

My favorite part was Cena's reaction to that line.
It was like the dude got outed.

I was at a house show a few weeks after he had turned heel, I guess no one had got the memo as everyone was cheering him, Batista decided to stick his middle finger up and start swearing at the kids in the front row.

Yeah, he was a far better talent than he was given credit for at the time
