I'm new to the podcast, listening through the backlog, and I gotta ask...do they ever tighten this shit up? I'm listening to their King of The Ring 1994 episode right now and holy shit, this thing is a slog to get through. For every two minutes of match time, they spend about 10 minutes rambling about anything OTHER than the matches. Do they get better about staying anywhere remotely close to the topic, or am I better off giving up now?

It really depends from show to show if you want a more focused show the ones on wwf 97 building to & the aftermath of Survivor Series or The 10hr Plus Benoit or the mania, starrcade or awa journey are good but when it’s just a random show they can be all over the place.I wasn’t a fan at first but a few people I trust told me to give it another try and I discovered that JP reminds me of my best friend during my teen years who passed away way too young so I maybe a little biased but I get a kick out of him.

They have that as a really bad habit which pisses me off because they will talk over each other and run a joke into the ground for 10 mins
However, when they are on they are good. It's just that this is one of those podcast where it feels like you are listening to wrestling fans so they will venture off course, talk about shit that don't matter (I remember some show where he brought up 3 diff times about how he doesn't like WWE wrestlers always doing the shocked face)
The WCW Starrcade tour they did some good work and wish it be more of that instead of impressions every 5 mins (which some are funny but don't drive them into the ground interrupting the flow of the podcast)

Yea the random shows they will fall off the rail and just take the piss out of it or talk about stuff that interest them
The stuff looking back at the Screwjob was decent to. Was a good enough mix of jokes while also giving you the facts and not venturing off course too much
JP just has a bad tendency to just say off the wall stuff or start up an impression when he's bored which seems like a lot but he's a funny guy and his impressions do be good but he will drag it as long as possible and unless Jack stops him he will keep going. However, Jack also has a bad tendency of veering off course way too much and acts more like the "color guy" instead of doing the PBP and leading the podcast along

I'd rather listen to them going off the rails than because heck, that's how I talk about wrestling with my friends. It's much better than:
Conrad: "It was reported in the Observer..."
Bruce/Tony/Eric: "f*** Dave Meltzer!"
*Fanboys hate tweet Meltzer because he was "wrong" about something that was proven right decades ago*
*Bruce defends the WWF, Bischoff is in denial about failing*
*Joke that ran into the ground weeks ago is driving into the center of the earth to sell t-shirts*
*Six minutes of ads*

You've got one really focused on the wrestling guy(especially on New Gen Podcast, Stuart is amazing), and then two "personalities" to play off that. That said, I'm giving Lapsed Fan until their big Wrestlemania series to really grip me, because I get the feeling that I LIKE these guys, but man, it can be hard to sit through.

I am just going to keep it real with ya- they never tighten up. Jack is only barely a straight man. The people that follow the podcast love thwir bullshit banter, so if anything they do it more as the show progresses and becomes more popular. So, if you are waiting for that to subside, I am just giving you warning that isn’t going to happen. I love the podcast, and the characterizations JP has created of Vince and Hogan are the best ones in my opinion. Funnier than Bruce’s I think. The paranoid Hogan character is just really good shit. “No Snuka push, dude”.

JPs Nash, Hogan, Vince and Bulldog are gold when he’s doing it right. As I said before it’s a podcast where you feel like you’re listening to wrestling fans banter which wears on your nerves tho when they venture far off course which is when I start skipping but people like that so they continue to do it. They can do a good mix of serious and comedy when they want to like for the Bret Hart survivor series breakdown or as said before mania and starrcade but their tendency to just lapse into 10 mins of nothing can get grating

I love them. Their Wrestlemania series is incredible too. Also one of the few podcasts who understand where the Cena hatred came from. A lot of people blame the fans or the SuperCena push, but it was the fact that the WWE completely changed his character between Mania XX and XXI.
Also I bloody love the Vince impressions.

I have to admit, I think I've gotten to the early days of the impressions, and yeah, their Vince is hilarious. They're slowly growing on me, I think I just wasn't expecting QUITE the same amount of digressions, since I'm so used to New Gen Project Podcast and OSW Review, which are a lot more "focused".

The only thing I dislike is their weird kinda sexist “the guys” tangents.
Like a crowd pop is only a real pop if its guys yelling. Kids and woman don’t count.

They go off on weird tangents where you just want to be like shut the f*** up

Yeah I get that. For me the holy trinity is OSW, New Generation Podcast and Attitude Era Podcast, but I do love Lapsed Fan a lot too. I love their Hogan impressions too. Their jokes about constantly needing to go over and sucking up to Vince is amazing. Also I laugh everytime they say "Patterson, get over here!" as McMahon. Stick with it until the Mania series, it's incredibly well researched.

They definitely laugh at their own jokes too much, but I often listen to it as background noise as I pass out. It's odd hearing some of the early shows where the guys are almost in opposite roles as Jack gets things wrong and is corrected. To their credit, they update their info when people send in corrections. I sent them several emails during the AWA series that cleaned up some of their talking points and comments.
