Eli will be 36 this year, he’ll probably make more in Impact than he will in NXT and ultimately won’t do much on the main roster anyways.

Good on both sides.
Impact needs atleast some guys to sign on with them and not solely depending on the rotating door of talents that are not their own.
And good on Drake he can remain a top level star in Impact instead of being just another guy in the E.

He's had two developmental runs in WWE and probably knows that WWE doesn't have much legit interest in him. For as bad as we crack on Impact, they have made a lot of changes in the last year or so that is very talent friendly so it makes sense for him to stick around there.

He made the right choice in the short term, the WWE are overloaded with talent right now so he would have gotten lost in the shuffle.

Drake would face a pretty big uphill battle anywhere but TNA; he's in that same Cody-esque mold of being an okay worker whose strength is on the stick, but he doesn't have the post-WWE star value or the last name to be able to make that transition easy and be given the chances Cody's been given. If TNA is going to continue trucking on and actually pays people now, then some people are better off just staying where they are and collecting their paychecks honestly; Drake is maybe just a little bit not good enough to have a top shot at thriving on the indies, let alone in WWE.

I mean he’s been treated like a top guy there and if he’s happy there so be it
NXT has a log jam and while he would have gotten over big on the mic, he probably would have been facing an uphill battle to stay relevant

Yeah, not surprised here. Everybody can't find a home at NXT and he's probably making solid money as a top guy here.

Going to be interesting to see who else Impact can get on contract going forward; by most accounts the money is actually there and, most importantly, on time now, but they've gotten some of their juice back by not tying people down so far.

I hope it means Drake will become the number 1 face and Moose gets demoted(Moose main eventing Slammiversary feels forced imo).

Probably a smart move with how bloated the NXT roster is right now.

I've been a fan of his since he was managed in Championship Wrestling from Hollywood by Percy Pringle III (Paul Bearer). Hope Eli gets a decent payday out of his new deal.

This is a smart move. He'd only have NXT success before main-roster blues.

I still think there could be some more work to polish Drake's character a bit. Like he's not completely there as far as role, look, even moves like his finisher(his former finisher was much more unique). I wish a booker in Impact would take him under his wing and fine tune the whole thing.
