Yeah, last time I saw LeBron go all out on D was that game 7 block. Even that season, he rested on his laurels defensively. This season, he doesn't even show the bare minimum effort. I do agree with you, he is doing that strategically, but it is harder for a guy of his size who, while still explosive, is not as quick as he used to be. His newer skill set is more skewed towards being a roving small ball post defender. But even then, you only have a finite number of hops left in those feet/ankles/knees. So there's really no efficient spot for him to kinda hide in this league full of young 6'9/6'10 guys with a 7'4 wingspan and hops who are shooting from 18-25 feet from the basket. It's hard enough to stop those guys with fresh legs, but also his muscle structure which has helped him for so long is now hindering him. He looks more like an older Malone than an older Kobe physically, or even a more comparable point forward post-prime Pippen. The older he gets, the more space he's gonna need to get that shot off (which has never been an especially quick release). He might be done right now as an elite scorer (we'll see next season), but unless the wheels fall off, he's passing Malone pretty easily. LeBron is not that down hill runner no more. He’s taken a lot more jumpshots and they go in at a decent rate but if he’s not driving the lane like he used to than teams will play him closer. He doesn’t have that first quick step and you can see the lift isn’t as much there anymore as he doesn’t hit them signature LeBron dunks. He’s been able to mask this stuff pretty well over the last few years but this season it’s apparent and showing more often. LeBron “hides” in the post. He’s purely a help defender and even then guys aren’t scared because they know he’s not jumping to block. I’m just a fan and I’ve been noticing it since after they won the title in Cleveland, I can imagine professional scouts and teams is picking up on this heavily. All of this factors in to players wanting or not wanting to join LeBron. Joining LeBron when he’s an animal is one thing but joining LeBron when he’s still a great top rank player but with clear faults is another. LeBron refuses to change his game around the team which is going to hurt others and when those L’s come the media isn’t noticing LeBrons diminishing game He’s still a top player in the game but the question has to be asked from the media eventually is LeBron declining. This season is going to be blamed on the injury but next season there won’t be. He’s still putting up the same numbers but if you watch the games the impact just isn’t the same As much as I hate to say it, KD was right earlier this season when he said guys just don't think it's worth it to join LeBron and be a part of that circus. PG seemed like a lay-up to go there if LeBron was down, and it kinda surprised everybody when he re-upped in OKC and now he's playing the best ball of his career. Would he have gotten that same shine or the same results in LA, under that pressure, scrutiny, and LeBron's style and tinkering? Not terribly likely IMO. Davis wants to go there, but I think anything is a step up to him.

Davis wants to go there, but I think anything is a step up to him. KD isn’t wrong. Players see the scrutiny that comes with playing with LeBron and you won’t get the due you are deserved. Add on his back stabbing nature and you have a recipe for disaster. The report coming out him trying to trade Kyrie away f***ed him over badly. No way PG plays to this MVP level with LeBron AD with LeBron might be a worse fit than Bosh and Love and he’s better than both of them. He wants to get out of NO but he better recognize he’s going to get hardly any plays drawn up for him and his buckets will come off rebounds or being a spot shooter. Idk who really wants to play with LeBron. The novelty of playing with him has sort of worn off and he had a big circus on the Cavs, imagine that with LA now. Add on Magic not doing anything and the prospects of attracting a star is still good cause it’s LA but not a automatic you think it should be considering they have a young core and money

So Lakers have now dropped 4 in a row pretty much accepting they aint making the playoffs and according to how the draft lottery is laid out they now have a 35% shot at gettin a top 4 pick.
That strangely might end up being better than making the playoffs because they were never going to win the chip this year.

KD is the last guy who should be talking about anyone being toxic. Since he joined Golden State his originally down to earth demeanor turned into arrogance and pretending to be a tough guy. At least LeBron didn't go to a team that beat him on his home court, trash talked, and celebrated on their floor.

LeBron did embrace that whole heel shit including that dumb ass commercial he did after he joined the Heat
Let's not forget they were crowned the Beatles until they slowed down the arrogance the next year and just played ball

Looks like the fat lady is warming up her vocal cords on the Kings playoff chances. Bagley could not have gotten hurt at a worse time. This team is miles better with Bagley on the court. I just hope we finish strong and end up above .500

The irony here is that this is the first time the Knicks actually seem to have any positive direction, yet Dolan still finds a way to make the optics look terrible.
Knox was a good pick, the KP trade made sense, and now they have two max slots plus a top 5 pick. Dolan should just stay in his office. The Knicks are in the best spot they have been in for a while now. As long as they don’t spend the money on Tobias Harris or Middleton.
