Anyone have any thoughts on the very last season of The Twilight Zone, at least in its original form? I found a pretty fun list of one guy’s opinion ranking them all: www.anorakzone.com/twilightzone1964rank1.htmlI’m definitely grateful we got one last season going back to the 30 minute format.

I think still generally pretty good, but by the end the show was showing its age and was probably better off stopping where it did. It does feel like a season where they were running out of ideas.

It has some of my favorite episodes. Living Doll, Number 12 Looks Just Like You and Night Call are all great episodes.

Stopover In A Quiet Town The Fear The Bewitchin' Pool The Old Man In The Cave What's In The Box? The Last Night Of A Jockey Spur Of The Moment Uncle Simon Number 12 Looks Just Like You
Nightmare at 20,000 Feet Steel A Kind Of A Stopwatch The Masks Living Doll Night Call
These episodes I remember, the bold ones I particularly like. What I like most about Twilight Zone is there are always more episodes I haven't seen.

I think still generally pretty good, but by the end the show was showing its age and was probably better off stopping where it did. It does feel like a season where they were running out of ideas. Yeah they definitely recycle some ideas from elements like tiny aliens in The Fear to essentially the whole plot like in What’s in the Box? I’d say I’d be curious what a season 6 of The Twilight Zone would be like, but I think we already have some idea with Night Gallery which came along a few years later. I know if they kept going Serling was under pressure to change the title of the series to, Witches, Werewolves, and Warlocks which he didn’t like as he said there is only so much you can do when you’re booked into a graveyard every week. Oddly enough that title did end up being used for a later book anthology of horror stories that Serling wrote the introduction for. I take this to mean that CBS was also pressuring to make the show exclusively horror/sci-fi themed and get rid of the more whimsical episodes. Plus, I’m sure CBS would have wanted the series to be made in color at some point. Both of these also ended up happening in Night Gallery which again leads me to think Twilight Zone season 6 wouldn’t have been that different from Night Gallery.
