This is a Nickelodeon schedule from 1985. nickschedules.blogspot.com/2010/01/june-1985.htmlNotable for 5 straight hours of Pinwheel! I get that the number of shows they had access to was pretty slim at the time, but they couldn't have repeated some other shows in those 5 hours? It feels like now the only show they have access to is Spongebob Squarepants

Today's Special is notable for airing on Nick and PBS at the same time (at least in my area). I don't remember that, not in the NYC area at least. Now Powerhouse I think was on both. I believe Big Blue Marble (remember THAT?) was on PBS and on one of our local stations. Trying to remember the format of Pinwheel blocks...was a typical episode an hour long, or... ??

No, pretty continuous as I recall. Only opening and closing credits at the end of the block. As a kid used to an hour on Sesame Street, the HOURS of Pinwheel felt like Lord of the Rings, followed by Today’s Special. Wish more of those old schedules could be found, vintage Nick and Nick at Nite was awesome.
