Wow that trailer certainly got me more excited than I was for this film. It looks like it could be a genuinely good film, not just a good “superhero film”.

I haven't been interested in most of the recent DC movies, but this looks like it might not only be very good comic book movie, but actually a potentially great film. Granted we will see, but I love the approach they are taking and Joaquin Phoenix is certainly a good enough actor to pull this off.

They’re teasing a potentially very unsettling origin into Joker. As much as I enjoy the variations of the character that don’t have a concrete backstory, I’m interested in seeing how they pull this off. Yeah, I’m sensing a lot of potential here. And like I said in the Zack Snyder thread, I don’t care if they take all sorts of liberties with Joker here because it’s clearly it’s own thing. I think a real possibility in ending the shared DC movie universe is that we'll get much more stuff like this. Instead of 1 version of everybody matching up, there can be multiple iterations of characters, existing in movies that are just about themselves and not always creating a shared universe. For the comic universe that gave us the multiverse and Elseworlds, it's not a bad way to go at all. Keep the possibility of certain versions recurring and teaming up, but don't hold everyone/everything to that at all times. .......of course inevitably people will want them ALL to join up and interact in some sort of Crisis, but fans are insane and we know this because we are insane.

Looks great, as expected.
How weird is it to see an actual actor doing his job with the part for the first time in 11 years.

I thought it looked underwhelming. It’s Taxi Driver. It’s old tropes recycled with face paint.

You'd think they would have dropped it on the 1st but whatevs April 4 was Heath Ledger's birthday. Maybe they did it as an homage to him?

Teaser looks really good.
I do like that it doesn't seem to be portraying him as a good guy from what we see...

I wonder if it's going to be THE Joker, or A Joker, along the lines of Joker's assertion that all that separates him from anyone else is one bad day.

Since its a standalone Elseworlds story, they could basically do whatever they want without it affecting any other movie. I'd personally be keen with an ending idea that this is a Joker figure that could be inspiring the future Joker some day.

Hmmm, will put this in spoiler tab just in case. Regarding the cast credits on IMDb: {Spoiler}Looking at the cast list on imdb there are roles for Thomas Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth and Young Bruce Wayne. No mention of Martha, but not everyone in the cast list has had their roles been revealed yet.
Here we go again.

Here we go again. I wonder if that little boy behind the gates is supposed to be Bruce. I think it's supposed to be. The boy is dressed very nicely so I can see that being a young Bruce. Watching Jeremy Jahns review and I did not realize that a huge moment from The Dark Knight Returns could happen in this movie when we see the TV studio and what looks like a talk show happening. That could be amazing to see.

I have seen a few people criticize this for trying to make the Joker sympathetic... but... I really didn't get that vibe from it.
I mean I could see them going that route and yeah that'd be pretty awful... and while yeah he's the protagonist.
but I didn't think from what little we saw pointed to "Joker is totally justified and has some good ideas" as the point.
