It feels right and it's organic. But can you actually see Vince McMahon make Rusev day a reality?

He's got a worse chance than Jinder did. With Jinder it was during a good time of the year, Orton (Mr. Transitional Champion) had the belt and beyond that Jinder had 2 goons. Rusev's going against "Hey I've still got this belt and I'm boring as all hell and mind you I whipped Nakamura's ass 4 times" AJ Styles, it's before Summerslam and Rusev's only got 1 goon with him and one that he might have a falling out with.
Rusev isn't winning even though he should win. He'd shake up the main event scene.

HELL TO THE NO!!!!!
This is basically just to prove he can hang with someone like AJ in a WWE title situation
Wake me up when they start building AJ and Joe for Summerslam

Love me some Rusev, but no chance in hell he wins here. WWE just throwing the guy a bone on a nothing show.

Hey, Jinder won the damned thing last year, so why not some that outclasses him in every way? That said, I still think AJ retains.

You never know for sure. But my hunch is that Styles retains.

I think it would be more interesting if Rusev wins, AJ gets it back by Survivor series and then starts the program working into Joe at Mania. Or Joe takes it from Rusev and they do AJ vs Joe with Joe the Champ going into Mania.
I'm so tired of World Titles being locked into huge year old builds into the next Mania. It creates stagnation nearly by definition. I prefer stirring shit up to create new mini-stories with non-related-players in the middle of long-drawn-out plans.
Otherwise I see AJ winning and immediately starting a program with Joe that covers like 8 PPV's in a row and takes something we should love and grinds it into the ground Roman style.
Which means even if I hope Rusev wins... he won't. Because we can't have nice things.

I wish he would but Rusev isn’t winning.

He won't win, but it would be funny if he does because the fans are going to go crazy , the live crowd will erupt if he wins, and the management including Vince will still say why they cheering him, he is a heel and the next Smackdown. rusev show up as the champ, making a speech like a heel while the fan still chant to him like he's a face

So if Joe wins at Summerslam than he probably holds the title until TLC or the Rumble where he drops it somehow to the Miz and DB wins the rumble

I'm thinking no, but I would lose my mind if he did.
I want Miz to be the one to unseat AJ but I would absolutely love it if Rusev did, even if only temporarily. Dude deserves it and AJ's run has been ass.

The only booking problem I see with Rusev winning here is that it would put him over Shinsuke as a main eventer, when Shin never got the job done. Thus it would devalue the US title if Shinsuke wins that almost immediately, unless Hardy retains and they just want Shinsuke to sink lower into the midcard that is.
If they don't care about pushing Shinsuke as a serious singles threat, Rusev will win the title basically. I would guess that's not what they're going for, even though Rusev Day chants are often deafening every SDLive episode and he's clearly almost as over as Bryan or AJ as a popular Superstar. I don't think it's Rusev's time yet, but he should be able to come very close to winning (maybe even a false finish where he wins the title but the match is restarted).

Nah, but it should be a fun match and I'm glad he's at least getting a shot.

No. It’s just a challenger in the build to Summerslam. However it’s a feather in Rusev’s cap and might make them notice him.

I wish he would win, but I feel like this will be the match where Rusev will lose because of Aiden and turn heel on him and then he'll be super serious afterwards and they'll dump the "Rusev Day" gimmick.
