well not so much writers block, but chord block. i can't write one peice of music that I enjoy anymore. it was so easy when i was in a band to write just simple chords and write a song to it. now that I'm not in a band anymore, i can't do crap.
i guess this could go out to some writers as well, how do you get over writers block

its not the song content, i have lyrics upon lyrics, it just comes down to a musicians favorite phrase
"oh that really sucks"

Don't masturbate and cut out the drugs (if you're a user) for a while. Not the booze though. You ever driven a car with no petrol?
Works for me.

How long have you suffered from this effect thus far? Getting the block is a major pain in the rectum, and no one should deal with it. The longest time it occurred to me was for about a month. But like one great man once said, all things must pass, and so shall your ill writers block.

So you don't have a full band, but do you have just one friend around there you could sit down and collaborate with? Or any chance on starting up a new band?
And I feel your pain, cause I just recently helped start a band with a couple of friends, and when I'm home by myself I can't come up with jack, but when we all get together and sit down and start writing, it flows like wine. I think it's just the camaraderie that helps bring the creativity out.

Getting over writer's block isn't an easy thing. I currently have many projects that sit unfinished while I try and find a way to continue. Some of them had such promise ...
Usually I just take a break from writing anything, and then it will come to me. Usually ...

aah... yeah, I've gotten musical writer's block before.... it's much easier to write when you and a friend are feeding off eachother IMO.

Hmm... got any friends online you can sort of chit-chat with and collaborate long-distance? Not quite the same but it might get you jump-started.
Or better yet, if you're in a new city, are there any bars with open mic nights you can hit up? Maybe meet some fellow musicians that way?
