I thought it was ok.
I thought it'd be way, way better from how good the trailers looked. Loved the direction, but it's a bit of a double edged sword: the same freshness and unique approach leads way to an inconsistent flow and a choppy narrative. I thought moments of brilliance were absolutely sprinkled throughout. I'd love to see him direct something that's not as much "his baby". Could be great. Reminded me a lot of Donnie Darko if Richard Kelly was funny as f***. Great soundtrack though, which I read up was also the directors band.
Lakeith Stanfield is...okay. It was touch and go with him but I thought his supporting cast was way better than he was.
I hate that the marketing after its release is promoting comparisons to "Get Out". The two shouldn't even be uttered in the same breath. And shouldn't be talking about "that twist" which isn't as much a twist just another component of the films fantastic wacky humor.

Considering the fact I Liked this more than Get Out, yeah.....the comparison is lazy

First and second act had moments of brilliance for sure , I really enjoyed the whackiness of it all . But holy shit without warning does this movie take a sharp left turn in its last act , to me it was a bit uncomfortable

I really enjoyed it. Really unique and well-acted.
A lot of the people in the theater I was in either didn't get it or hated it. I just don't think they were expecting it and then turned their noses up.

The two movies it most put me in mind of were Do The Right Thing and Repo Man. Really, really enjoyed it.

Funny enough, I went the other way and immediately had Repo Man vibes from it. Boots did such a good job creating it's own universe that felt so much like ours, but off it's axis. Alex Cox did the same thing.

Good news for me is I have a $6 Tuesdays at one theater, which is great if the film you want to watch, is playing there, which it wasn't so I spent $12 and as you know from me, I felt it was worth it.

My favorite movie I've seen in quite a while. I knew what type of movie it was going in and it exceeded my expectations. Glad I wasn't spoiled for the most part. Steve Lift character was great portrayal of billionaire tech charlatans--guys who make life a living hell for so many but genuinely believe they are saviors of humanity. Deserved his fate. You could imagine a Jeff Bezos coming up with something akin to what we saw with WorryFree.
Desperately want to see more stuff along these lines. Took them a long time to get it into theaters and frankly surprised I would ever see something like this there. Great work from Boots Riley.
