Eventually I'll add all the best highlights to this first post, but this feud deserves recognition for its longetivity, even if it has been on and off over the years.

I wish they would have interacted more when Bryan had his rise. There was a long stretch where they didn't interact at all.
I liked the closing segment of Smackdown. They're actually taking their time with it, in a way. If you notice, Miz is kind of hinting at everything he hates about Bryan bit by bit.

I wish they would have interacted more when Bryan had his rise. There was a long stretch where they didn't interact at all. I vehemently disagree. The 'lingering background resentment' Miz always had towards Bryan helped keep the feud relevant whilst not overwhelming at the same time (see: Cena v Orton). It's one of the very very few things the WWE has gotten right in the last decade, pacing it out and spacing it out while the two feuded even into semi-retirement. Keeping them separated for several months only to bring them back together on small interactions is exactly what has maintained it in being nice and fresh.

But I'm thinking of the years between 2010-2016. I don't recall them interacting at all. Except for one MizTV in 2015.

I'm just glad they're not doing the "Miz is better than Bryan so Bryan has to climb up to the top now" thing like hinted. Their current feud as is, it's amazing. They're still the same guys from the latter 00s but they've risen to become great in their own right and with that comes many many years in the business. Now they're interacting with each other again but at the same time they've changed a bit but not enough that they're different people. Their chemistry is still great and they've both gotten better in the ring.
It's like watching Goku and Vegeta battle in the Saiyan Saga and then later on in the Buu Saga. I look forward to their match.

And as everyone knows, once you go past the 3000 day mark, you gotta bring in the fake baby.

Ideally this should be the biggest "storyline" feud for Bryan outside of one with Reigns, but it's doing nothing for me in the initial stage. Maybe I'm way off base, but it was a mistake to cool both guys off so much since Wrestlemania and then launch into the feud without building either of them back up. The segments have been okay so far, it's just that both seem super mid-cardy to me based on recent booking, which should never be the case, and it's sort of devaluing the level at which I view this program a bit.

So... first of all: Miz, you're very handsome. Rethink that facial hair.
But yeah. What do we think of this week's developments? I'm of two minds. Taken in isolation, it was great promo work but... it felt rushed to me. They're telegraphing pretty hard that Daniel will lose and leave. And I don't know.
The storytelling both feels too fast and too slow for me. They really should have tagged together at least a little bit.

They're telegraphing pretty hard that Daniel will lose and leave. Part of me is like "Well, WWE thinks that's what everyone else thinks is going to happen, so it'll be a surprise when Bryan wins and he stays".

I think my issue is that they should have been in contact with each other from the moment Bryan was drafted to Smackdown. I thought it was cool how they were being kept apart, but since the feud started... it's been too much and too little and that's a weird place to be.
I'll have to watch the segment again. But there's still a few shows ahead of Summerslam. Right now, it's a lot of (well-performed) anger from Miz but not much else.

I think this match will be part of a longer build to get Bryan back in the "main event" at WrestleMania in New York next year. I think Bryan loses at SummerSlam, sticks around and works a few programs that he wins. Meanwhile, Miz goes on a tear, beats AJ for the title at Survivor Series and we get Miz vs. Bryan for the WWE Title next year.

I would say this is what the feud needs. Miz stating his issue. Bryan replying. Bryan punches him.
WWE has the right idea but, unsurprisingly, Miz is cutting better promos when not scripted despite the similarities.
