I’m guessing in that last picture Konnan is all “hey Vince, you strawberry, this costume is terrible like no one on the other side of the glory hole. I’m going back to Mexico”

Is that Spicolli in the first pic? It looks like him and he did a ton of wwf enhancement work during that period so it most likely is him.

He did say his gimmick was inspired from a Japanese animated show. I wonder had K-Dogg come back in 2000 had Bruce Prichard not dismiss him, I wonder if they would give him a crappier version of that suit as some punishment.

Konnan didn’t even make it to TV under the gimmick did he? Did a few house shows and left? I’m surprised they still wanted the gimmick on TV after he left and replaced him.

I’m surprised they still wanted the gimmick on TV after he left and replaced him. They spent some stupid-huge amount of money on the suit and "jetpack" and wanted to get some use out of it (see: Cage, Shark).

Now that I think about it they should have taken the mech gimmick one step further and have a bratty tween girl scientist as his manager "remotely" controlling his every move, that would have been a good on camera role for young Stephanie.
All though in reality one would assume he would have taken the armor off when got in the ring because there is no way in hell he'd ever be able to move around the ring in that getup, although it would have been funny as hell to see him try.

I’m guessing in that last picture Konnan is all “hey Vince, you strawberry, this costume is terrible like no one on the other side of the glory hole. I’m going back to Mexico” The first picture makes it look as if Konnan is silently seething with disgust, while in the third pic he finally tells Vince where he can stick the suit. Too funny. It's a horrible use of a guy who in his prime was an incredible in-ring talent. Peak Konnan is the most underrated wrestler ever IMHO.

Didn't they expect Konnan to lug that thing from town to town? No wonder he walked.
I'm so used to seeing Konnan as an older, slower luchadore/wannabe gang member in WCW, it always surprises me seeing pictures of him when he was a young, slim up and comer and kind of handsome too.

He did make it to TV I think? Under the name Relempago. I assume all these photos were from these two tapings. So technically he was never going to use "Max Moon" and neother was Diamond as he was originally the Comet Kid WWF @ Worcester, MA - Centrum - July 20, 1992 (11,000) WWF Superstars taping: Relampago (Konnan) defeated the Mercenary (Luis Mendieta) WWF @ Portland, ME - Civic Center - July 21, 1992 (6,054) Wrestling Challenge taping: Relampago (Konnan) defeated Johnny Rodriguez

I remember watching WCW back when I still thought it was real and thinking his in ring style looked absolutely ferocious. Once I wished up I respected him even more. I was surprised when I started posting here to see how many people seem to think he sucked in ring, so I’m glad to see someone else concurs with me.

If there's one thing Konnan doesn't get enough credit for - it's getting Lucha Libre exposure in U.S wrestling promotions. Yes, ECW wasn't big, but Konnan, Rey, Psicosis and Juvi all kicked down the door and forced Bischoff to notice them. Getting them bigger exposure in WCW.

Just to clarify: Konnan absolutely never appeared on WWF TV under any name or gimmick.
Konnan showed promise of being a good wrestler in the early '90s but became incredibly lazy almost as soon as he was unmasked. He was charismatic as hell and had a great look, especially for Mexico, and he relied almost entirely on that and bells and whistles to get through his matches.
