I hope the reason for this is because Disney can't find a suitable director, because everyone they ask is telling them "No way!"

I hope the reason for this is because Disney can't find a suitable director, because everyone they ask is telling them "No way!" I wouldn't be surprised if that's at least part of it. Even in the best of scenarios, replacing a popular director comes with its own drama (see also, Adam McKay and later Peyton Reed replacing Edgar Wright on Ant-Man). This is not the "best of scenarios". This is a scenario where the entire lead cast has signed a letter demanding the director be brought back. A scenario where at least one of the biggest stars is threatening to quit. There's almost no way to fill his spot without the replacing director looking like a scab crossing the picket line.

Heard some pretty rational commentary on this recently: there's a very good chance that the top brass at Disney realized they pretty much got played, probably thought "yeah, it'd be best to get Gunn back", but due to current internal power politics within the upper levels of management right now given that Bob Iger's likely on his way out soon and plenty of other suits are lining up to vie for his spot nobody wants to just reinstate Gunn and admit to having made a misjudgment. In Hollywood office politics it's often thought that being firm and dictatorial is better than necessarily being right in the face of a rash decision, so the last thing anyone wants is to own a screw up (especially since doing so gives more shine to Feige, himself an exec) that might make them look "weak" in the eyes of the board/investors/stockholders/etc.
Halting GotG3 now, I think, reads as a way to let some time pass and then bring Gunn back, but I could well be wrong.

Well Dave is a loyal guy. Apparently the studio pressured Gunn to pick a more known actor to play Drax, like Jason Momoa, but Gunn stucked with Batista.

He also admitted on camera to lying about someone and it didn't matter because "He's controlling the narrative." He's not in any shape, form, or fashion a good person. Disney should be ashamed and apologize for entertaining that piece of shit.

Yup, Disney also are really gunshy about going back on firing Gunn because they don't want to lose face over getting duped by the f***ing pizzagate guy.

All I have to say regarding that piece of shit is that karma may be slow but it eventually comes. A similar “activist” recently complained about being broke because society eventually shunned him away.

MovieBob? Yeah, that as a good take. I was tempted to post both of his videos on this, but they get a little political, and I'm sure he's a little divisive. The inner machinations at Disney are very interesting surrounding this, as well as how much of a rock and a hard place Marvel in particular is around this. A month later, this is still the biggest story surrounding Marvel Studios. Not Infinity War on DVD, not Captain Marvel next spring, not Into the Spider-Verse this winter (technically Sony/Marvel, but still), not even the big FOX buyout. Just this story.

There are countless people wandering around Hollywood that would JUMP at the chance to take the helm of a Marvel franchise, even with an entirely new cast or an original cast in revolt. They would follow every single note Disney handed them to the tee to get their name of GotG 3. Never underestimate the lack of morals and convictions in that town.

I honestly think they're waiting for everything to cool off and blow over before bringing Gunn back.
