Patriots signed WR Bruce Ellington to a one year deal Ellington has missed games due to hamstring injuries in 2016 and 2018, ended a season on injured reserve in 2016 and 2018, failed a physical with the Jets in 2017, and has never exceeded 35 receptions in a season. So any Patriots fan who is under the impression that Ellington is being brought in to serve as a third receiver or a legitimate option in the passing game needs to immediately temper those expectations. However, he has 50 career kick returns under his belt, so it’s oretty apparent that Ellington will enter camp as the Patriots’ likely kick returner, thus replacing the versatile Cordarrelle Patterson in the kicking game. But on offense, he’ll be a gadget player at best. I’d be stunned if he has more than 10 catches by the time the 2019 season ends.

Again that history shouldn’t leave anybody overly optimistic, and they sure as hell won’t use Edelman for that any more

I really think Gettleman’s plan is to create the worst possible team to be in position to draft Trevor Lawrence
But I’m actually ok with reading OBJ. Getting rid of the divas always worked out for us. (Tiki, Shockey.)

I wouldn't put Odell in the same category as Shockey. Shcokey was a problem in the locker room where everyone thought Odell was an incredible teammate and a locker room leader.
Meanwhile they trade OBJ likely because of character issues, but sign Golden Tate, who has his own personal baggage. In fact, I'd say the things Tate has supposedly done is a lot worse than anything Odell's done. And by signing him, they lose out on the 3rd round compensatory pick they got for letting Landon Collins go to free agency, as that now goes to the Eagles.
This team is run and/or owned by f***ing idiots.

Getting rid of the divas always worked out for us. (Tiki, Shockey.) But that's what makes the Golden Tate signing baffling. I can see the argument that, at this time last year, they thought they were nearing relevancy, and so taking a dynamic running back #2 overall would be slightly more justifiable, and that during the season they realized they were actually much farther than they thought, so they should blow it up and rebuild. But then, why sign a solid WR who will be 31-years-old at the start of the season to a four year deal? All that will do is make you better than you want to be, and, by the time you would be in position to contend again, he'll be too old to expect him to be a reliable contributor.

Because I think they want to appear like they are trying and not phoning it in. Another point to consider is maybe they still have misguided belief in Eli, who always did better without divas and did well with solid bit elite receivers. (Except Cruz)

The NFL discipline came down on Browns RB Kareem Hunt and it is 8 games.

The fact that they won’t move on from Eli is just bad
It’s f***ing stupid. Okay instead of drafting a QB you drafted a RB to give Eli one more run but they still ended up bad. However, now you’re in a position to draft another QB and still have studs at the RB and WR position to help the young QB
Giants aren’t strapped for cash and damn near every team in the league would love to be in a situation where your QB and RB are years away from a deal and you got them on rookie friendly contracts
Just doesn’t make a lot of sense. GM makes himself look foolish when he said last week he didn’t sign OBJ to trade him

Shocked AJ McCarron hasn't gotten a serious chance as a starter somewhere. He's a perfectly competetent QB from what I've seen so I'm surprised nobody's taken a chance on him.

The Raiders will trade Antonio Brown to the Patriots within one season.

He seemed like he was locked into the Bills job at least for the year until he got the injury and they decided to go with Peterman until Josh Allen was ready
That year the Bengals didn't trade him to the Browns really hurt him and then he had to file the grievance to get free agency

And Kareem Hunt will not be appealing this 8 game suspension so yeah...Browns are gonna have to do without him for the first half of the season

Considering the kinds of players New England's signed or traded for in the past, they wouldn't have a problem with signing or trading for AB.

Ryan Tannehill was traded to the Titans to be Mariota’s back up. Either the Dolphins are trading up, trading for Brissett like the rumors last month said, or they are tanking in the most glorious way possible.
Honestly, swinging a trade for Brissett isn’t a terrible idea. He either turns out to be a quality starter, at which point you resign him, or he isn’t and you still fail enough to draft a QB next year.
