Breaking from NFLN: The owners and GMs have made Offensive and Defensive Pass Interference reviewable calls. It is unknown if this includes non-calls though.
Edit: This does include non-calls and coaches can challenge these calls in the last two minutes of a half as well.

I have a gut feeling this will cause more problems than it will solve Michael Robinson brought up a good question, what if on that call in the Saints/Rams games didn't think it was DPI but unnecessary roughness because of the blow to the head, can that be called and if not we are starting back over again. Vote was 31-1 in favor. No word yet on the lone no vote.

This just feels like an overreaction. I think it could definitely correct some horrible calls but I feel like it's going to be used on nit picky calls 9/10 times. Now we're going to have a pass, a pause for a flag, and then a pause for a challenge flag.

Awhile back, this thread was discussing how we would change the overtime rules, and I was on my phone instead of my computer so I couldn't type it all out, so I'll type out my idea now. (Since it's basically a variation of the college OT rules, I wouldn't expect or hold my breath on anything like this being voted in as the rules any time soon.)
- Turn-based basically, like the college game, but only for 3 rounds maximum. (Playoffs, it would go on until one team wins.) - There's still a coin-flip, the winning team gets to decide to go 1st or 2nd for each try. No alternating turns, the team that picks to go 2nd will go 2nd for all 3 rounds. - Round 1, ball starts at the 20, round 2 the 25, round 3 the 30. (So no kickoffs whatsoever.) - Same rules as usual in terms of offensive drives (10 yards for a 1st down, 4 downs for 10 yards, etc, etc.). No game clock, but the :40 play clock stays. - Teams can score in any way at any time. The goal is to end round 1 with more points than the other team, then that team wins the whole game. They only go to a round 2 if round 1 ends in a tie score (they both get a field goal, or TD + XP, or no score, etc.).
Sounds like a drastic change (and for any institution that has been around and thrived for decades, like the NFL, they've more or less earned the privileged of an 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' mentality) but this alternate version of the college rules would fix many safety related loopholes that would've come up. No extra kickoffs, first and foremost. Also, like I said, any score at any time is allowed. So if the first team that goes in a round gets 0 points, the second team kicks a field goal and wins.

Now we're going to have a pass, a pause for a flag, and then a pause for a challenge flag. And therein lies the biggest problem with this rule change. Not only is it stupid and an overreaction to one bad non-call, it's going to make football games interminable this season. Now, instead of a pass falling incomplete and waiting for whether the referee will throw the flag, we'll have a pass fall incomplete, wait to see if the ref will throw the yellow flag, then wait to see if the coach will toss the red challenge flag. Also, how will this affect offensive pass interference? Since a defensive coach can throw a flag on a completed catch because a receiver or tight end might have pushed off, then literally every pass play - complete or incomplete - will come with a caveat of "well, let's wait a second to see whether that'll be challenged." The only way to not make this a nightmare on a game is to give each coach one pass interference challenge in a game. That's it, you get one. If you get it right or if you get it wrong, you get one. That way, coaches will be a little more judicious about when they decide to challenge a penalty or a non-call and the game won't last five hours.

PI call challenges, as far as I can tell, are still a part of the regular challenge system. So it's not going to be like they can throw the challenge flag after every iffy looking incomplete pass. Just means that coaches will have to be especially judicious about challenging only the most blatant ones. It's not like they're not giving them any extra challenges either.
Other football leagues have the ability to challenge or review PI and it hasn't made them LITERALLY UNWATCHABLE so I think we can probably cool it on the hot takes on this ruining the game forever or being a slippery slope to challenging every penalty ever all the time without repercussions unlike how certain sports radio gasbags I'm already guessing are reacting. I've long been in favor of making especially defensive PI reviewable considering how gamebreaking they often are. It was either that or make it a flat 15 yards, but that'd only encourage defensive players to murder receivers on huge passes as a 15 yard PI > 30+ yard completion.

Yeah, limiting it to PI calls is fine with me. My concern was that they would open up all penalties to a challenge, which would just cause coaches to challenge any big play and say that there was holding. PI is at least identifiable enough to where you can't just use a challenge to give yourself a mulligan.

Patriots defensive coordinator Greg Schiano has stepped down In almost any other situation, the Patriots' defensive coordinator stepping down less than a month after it was reported that he was taking the job would be cause for concern. But considering the person in this situation is Greg Schiano, I don't really care and almost welcome it. There was nothing positive that came out of his tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and I shuddered at the thought that he could be the coach-in-waiting to supplant Bill Belichick when he decides to hang up his tattered hoody.

Apparently Andrew Luck got married in Prague this weekend. I’m sure you’d be shocked to learn his new bride is quite attractive, as it is so rare for sports stars to be involved with attractive women.
All joking aside, they met while they were both in college, so he definitely took a lot longer to put a ring on it than I did. Btw, his wife ihas been a field producer for both ESPN and NBC Sports and runs a charity.
There is no news on whether he showed off his disco moves from his new Body Armor commercial at the reception.

Chiefs traded S Eric Murray to the Browns for DE Emmanuel Ogbah Probably a blessing for both players, to be honest. They both were about to get buried in the depth chart.
