Also, I have to admit, I might go back and try to catch the Pagano match. Took me weeks after the fact of Triplemania last year for me to realize that I knew that dude before he was anybody.

have a feeling we'll find out tonight if Hijo del Fantasma is as handsome under the mask as he says he is.

I think Psycho Clown loses too much without his clown mask and he with the mask means more to AAA. I see no way in hell Pentagon is losing his mask as hot as he is in the U.S. scene. Supposedly LA Park promised Rush that he'll be the one to take his mask when it finally happens. They would have to give him a huge payoff if they want his mask.

I thought Psycho Clown actually over with the Mexican audience, and it's just the foreign smarks that give him the reigns treatment? I don't really watch Lucha at all so I don't really know and I've seen others make that claim.

All the complaints about AAA are completely justified, and yet I've been watching their weekly shows on Twitch and enjoying them way more than I ought to. It's like this combination of New Generation-era WWF, trashy indie garbage wrestling, and Domino's shoot interview about working for Great Power Uti in Nigeria.

Psycho Clown gets the Cena/Reigns comparisons because he's the heavily-pushed top face of the promotion and he really isn't a very good wrestler. Way more so than Cena or Reigns on the later point, actually, since everyone in WWE tries to do big workrate-heavy matches these days, whereas Psycho Clown matches are a combination of mediocre brawling, playing to the crowds, and a willingness to get sliced open and bleed all over the arena.

But at the same time, the comparison couldn't be further off in that the live crowds for the most part f***ing love him and eat up his act. Even more than any of the in-ring action, one of the biggest differences I've noticed with lucha compared to indie wrestling in the US or Japan is just how much the crowds are packed with families and little kids. Which makes it even more bizarre when the cards are filled with hardcore matches where people get sliced open and bleed profusely and then casually brawl right through the crowds while leaking blood out over everything and everyone in their way.
