Sans his Universal Title run, everything Owens did in that first one was dope. He had that dope NXT run, the Cena matches, the Ambrose, Cesaro and Zayn feuds. Shit even that bad Universal Title stint had the Jericho friendship which is the only thing I enjoyed about it. Glad to see KO knowing that there's 2 different sides to his main roster career.
He needs to go back to his Prizefighter gimmick. Hell, "become a family man" and go face and basically be the fighter fighting for his family on some Guile shit.

Owens is a tricky customer with his social media. I don’t think we can know 100% for certain if he’s properly sour about things or just throwing out some bait, knowing how easily the internet bites on it.

Man, dude feels so stale now. Send him home for a couple months to recharge his batteries and bring him back as a lovable snarky face.

I don't know if I'm the minority but I've been perfectly fine with most of what Owens has been doing this year. His feud with Shane was fun, I preferred his alliance with Zayn over his friendship with Jericho (aside from the Festival of Friendship). Owens' Universal Title reign was his low point for me. He's clearly lower on the totem pole now than he was before but he's always in storylines and has been consistently entertaining throughout.

That whole program with Jericho killed both of them. It was so second rate and pathetic. The only good thing about that shit was the list of Jericho.
I think the final nail in the coffin was that clip of Vince saying “no” when Owens asked him if he liked the wm match.

I think the final nail in the coffin was that clip of Vince saying “no” when Owens asked him if he liked the wm match. That was months before KO headbutted Vince and drew blood on live television. No, I honestly think his 'final nail' was after his failed US Title "Face of America" run and series of dead matches with AJ Styles put the full blame on him. ...well, at least it seems that way, seeing as Styles became the proverbial cleanup crew of all the mistakes the WWE made that year (stepping in for TLC after the medical scare, taking the WWE Championship off of Jinder after the failed India experiment to salvage the Survivor Series match, etc.).

Owens need a face turn and can make it work as the ass kicker who doesn't take shit while yeah Roode face run has been dead for a while and while he is better in the ring as a face, he shines more overall as a heel

I feel bad for Owens and really hope his career goes in better new directions. I’ve been pulling for him since the Cena feud and it’s been a frustrating few years, that’s for sure.
Regarding his Universal title reign, I actually will go to bat for that a little bit as I think at this point that it gets way more flack than it deserves. Of course, I agree with the consensus that the Festival of Friendship angle was one the greatest angles in the modern era of wrestling, and I think that most people are with me on that. But it’s a bit baffling to me that someone would argue that it’s the sole highlight of the title reign, since that was the payoff to the storyline that had been expertly built over several months during the course of the title run. The Festival of Friendship segment worked as well as it did because the writers and performers got us to genuinely care about Jericho and Owens’ friendship. That’s a pretty rare thing in wrestling booking these days where for the most part I genuinely couldn’t care less about storyline stakes and consequences, largely because Vince is booking wrestlers in roles to spite his fans (Becky, Roman, Charlotte, Rusev, etc.). Also, the title matches during Owens’ title run were mostly very solid. His matches with Seth Rollins were good. Roman Reigns has that unfortunate “Reigns match formula” that limits how much I can enjoy his matches, but I’d say he had some of his best matches with Owens during that reign. And while the matches with Jericho were somewhat disappointing considering the buildup, they were still plenty solid and entertaining.
Of course, I’dd concede that there were drawbacks to the reign. Owens was booked as being weaker than he should have been, and the storyline with Jericho often seemed a little too light and comedic to be at the very top of the card involving the main title. But overall I view it as a mixed bag with several great things about it, while everyone on here seems to view it as an unmitigated disaster. And that I totally disagree with.
I actually regard his series with Cena in a less positive light than his Universal title reign, since I think it was ultimately more damaging to his credibility. Yeah, he got a clean win over Cena in the first match and that was cool moment that was a great initial boost for him. But then him losing the next two matches, and ESPECIALLY with the way that he lost the last match - tapping out to the STF and being carried away by security - really defined him as someone who was beneath Cena in a way that I think was incredibly damaging. Especially considering he was just new to the main roster and establishing himself. But that’s a whole separate topic on Cena and the way his feuds were ultimately damaging to lots of potential talent (Barrett, Wyatt, Rusev, Punk, I could go on and on).
Also, I just watched that clip of Vince saying that he didn’t like Owens’ match at Wrestlemania with Jericho (I didn’t even know about it until I saw this thread). Vince is SUCH a strange dude and it’s impossible to get a handle on him. I don’t know what he was really looking for in that match that he was so upset by, especially considering that he was positively glowing to Seth Rollins about his long and plodding match with Triple H that same night, and he even ended up praising Owens’ match with Styles at Summerslam when I regard that match (that whole feud with Styles really) as one of the most disappointing things I’ve seen in wrestling.

Now that Braun feud was completely pointless since he’s a heel now.

Owens is a proven Champion in a rut who need's a spark and to gain some heart
Titus Worldwide has the heart and has the spark, they just don't know how to win.
Seem's like a synergy and redemption storyline that write's itself

Some heel should start wearing "QUIT OWENS QUIT" shirts and taunt him until he comes back.
