Or find yourself getting a degree for a specific thing and realizing you don't want to do it?
My degree was in Kinesiology, which was more geared towards Physical education. I hate teaching PE and I don't like kids. I don't know how I was talked into it by my counselor. But by the time I realized how much I din't like it, It was too close to graduating and just finished. The degree is kind of pointless unless I actually teach and I can't teach unless I devote another year to Credential courses and student teaching.
I did end up doing some work related to fitness and all that Kinesiology info carried over, but yeah, I don't want to teach.
People keep asking if I want to back to school, but after all these years, still don't know what I'd study.
I'm actually happier now, doing stuff part time, a couple different jobs, making fluctuating income. Some minimum wage retail for an 8 hour day, or short days doing Personal training-ish work getting a decent amount for less time. I appreciate the freedom, flexibility, and the fact that I'm still making more that I would teaching. But part of me wishes that I had more options to do more things, and improve the money situation. Can't do these jobs for too long. I just don't know what those things are.

I've got a BA in Media Studies, Film and TV. I suppose I could do movie reviews or work in a PR firm or something like that. I occasionally come up with ideas for movies and stuff, but I'm too lazy to actually write a script ever.
I'm an assistant manager at a craft store and I very rarely post a movie review in our Horror Thread for fun. That seems okay to me.

A friend of mine got a degree in archeology, then spent 20 years working in a factory.
Another friend got a degree in psychology, then formed a folk band that sang mostly about getting drunk. He later went back and got a doctorate and landing himself a lecturing job and being a regular talking head on the BBC.

I have 2.
First one is in mortuary arts. Used it from the ages of 21 until I was 33. Then I got to were I couldn't handle the work anymore. Before then I was good at my work, worked in the city morgue for 11 years. But after losing a few loved ones in a row I just couldn't mentally handle being around dead bodies 8 to 10 hours a day.
Had heard about a college offering a degree in comic book history. Found out I could take the class online and already had read/owned most of the required reading. So got the degree. Never have used it for work. But hey I got 2 degrees and only had to pay for one. Since I got the mortuary arts one while in the Army.
Since if left the morgue in the fall of 2007 I worked home health care for a year. Left once the old man I took care of passed. And been on disability since then.

I have a degree in english lit. I never used it per se (it's basically only for teaching or higher academia) but it helped put me ahead of others when applying for every job I ever had and my current job actually pays me more than someone who doesn't have one.

I've got a BA HONS degree in English and Media with a view to becoming a journalist.
Got the degree in 99, never even so much as got work experience on the local paper. Since 2000 I've been a civil servant for the English Government, and currently work in a complaints department. You know what, though? I love my job, I'm good at it and I get to leave at 5pm each night. I'm happy with that.

I have 2 degrees that I don’t use. But, all a BA really does is show a job that you will stick things out and are someone who could potentially be in it for the long haul. Basically shows you are at least somewhat not a quitter.

Have a degree in communications, mostly based on TV production. Did work in it for a few years (96-01) and didn't make a lot of money.
Worked in insurance for 11 years, left that to get into film work, found out it still doesn't pay.
Doing overnights at a call center. Pays well and I'm not being watched like a hawk

Na that's why I got an Accounting degree so I can branch in diff types of ways if I felt the need too in regards to working in a bank, be a financial analyst, or straight up accounting work
Tho I do know people who got their degrees and moved on to something diff like one of my friends who got an accounting degree and actually got involved in nursing and is now pursuing that

Degree in Zoo Biology. I now work as the editor for a magazine Is it a magazine about Zoo Biology? Nope, a news/English learning combo magazine. Basically using news articles to learn English. Overall my degree has been worthless beyond been something to have on my CV. The most use I've got out of it is that it's a conversation point in job interviews.
