This entire season for me boils down to one statement: “that was WAY easier than it should have been.” All of the high stakes introduced felt absolutely trivial once they were overcome (redemption and reclaiming Mandalore shouldn’t have been a single episode each), with very little risk at the end of the day.
I dunno, it just feels like this season was them coasting on the success of the last two, with Gideon Moff just edged out by Snoke as most useless antagonist of the Star Wars universe. I fully expect him to yet again be back for Season 4.
I haven’t given up hope on this section of the extended Star Wars universe, but man did they take some liberties for no good reason.

Moff Gideon to me is a pretty boring and forgettable villain. I was disappointed when he came back. He's just very generic.

This season had the feeling of not really knowing where they want the protagonists to go, either in plot or character growth. While the things they did plan for Mando & friends to do, didn't seem to take much effort.
Did we really need the reformed clone scientist episode?
Meanwhile Grogu played second fiddle to everything going on, he really needs to start talking or something or by the time Mando is 80, Grogu will have only progressed to toddler maturity.
The world building was excellent though and I'm hoping when we get to season 4, Mando goes off on an actual adventure for the New Republic away from all these characters that have latched on to his story.

According to Favreau, Grogu wasn't even supposed to be in the show at this point. Him joining Luke was supposed to be the last we saw of him for a good long while.

If it were me, I'd get to the movie that's supposed to cap everything off and quit while I'm ahead. It's starting to look like Filoni and Favreau don't have many stories left for the Mandalorian itself. If that's the case, then I'd have no issue integrating the Dins into the Skelton Crew or something like that. Streamlining things wouldn't hurt and it would help the Skeleton Crew show to have them advertised for it. You'd get viewers to come for them and stay for the crew itself.

That's the curse of having a character that makes as much money for Disney as Grogu does in merch.

I wouldn't mind that. I do wonder if the Rangers of the New Republic is still a go (once the strike ends) or did it die when Gina Carano dumbed herself out of position?

And the stuff it would have gone into, like the Project Paperclip recruitment of former imperials was incorporated into Mandalorian.

I doubt season 4's scripts would be merged into a film script, 10 hours of plot squashed into 2/3 hours never ends well for a project as it usually suffers from plot points being removed making the entire thing a disjointed mess as small details get removed that help bigger details make sense.
also doubt a writer would touch this while there is a strike going on.

Do you really believe there's ten hours of plot in season four? I liked season three, but there was a lot of filler in it. Fun filler, but filler none the less. I believe they could've easily turned that into a two and a half hour movie.

I believe they could've easily turned that into a two and a half hour movie. yeah there was more plot in the last series than a movie time frame would allow. look at the last two series of game of thrones where fast travel was enabled and how disjointed they felt in comparison to the rest of the series, fair enough in the star wars universe they have faster than light travel so it makes more sense to spend less time showing that sort of thing but still the world building shouldn't stop because the show is established, I'm not saying they should cut away from the story for a 15 minute segment to see what bill burr's character is up to while he's shopping. you can see how changing a script idea from tv series to movie or from film to tv series by watching the obi wan series, it wasn't as good as it could have been due to it's format being changed and they had to pad out the scripts more.

Empire Magazine asked Kathleen Kennedy about it and she said that any ideas for Rangers of the New Republic were being folded into The Mandalorian. Given that the third season ends with Mando becoming a hired gun for the Adelphi Rangers and Favreau confirmed that he'd written season four before season three had even broadcast it's a safe bet that he simply swapped out Cara Dune for Mando and tweaked the story to fit.

...they're literally calling the movie "The Mandalorian & Grogu"? Good lord...
Also, the bigger news hidden in the announcement is Season 2 of Ahsoka anyways. Just mercy kill this series already so they can move on from the Skywalker-adjacent crap already.
