www.yahoo.com/news/scott-wilson-apos-walking-dead-025058214.htmlScott Wilson, the actor known as Hershel on The Walking Dead, has died. He was 76. The news was confirmed by The Walking Dead's official Twitter on Saturday, who sent their condolences to the actor's family and friends. "We are deeply saddened to report that Scott Wilson, the incredible actor who played Hershel on #TheWalkingDead, has passed away at the age of 76," the tweet read. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in paradise, Scott. We love you!" Wilson played Hershel, Lauren Cohan’s Maggie's onscreen father. The actor joined the AMC zombie series in season two, with his character ultimately dying in the fourth season while in prison. On Saturday, TWD showrunner Angela Kang revealed during the show's New York Comic-Con panel that Wilson was set to appear on the new season. No additional details were given at the time. He was also slated to appear at Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta, Georgia, later this month. With over 80 acting credits to his name, Wilson earned his first acting gig in 1967's In the Head of the Night. He had roles in movies like Femme Fatale, G.I. Jane, Pearl Harbor, The Last Samurai, The Host, and most recently, Hostiles. On the TV side, he appeared in The OA,Damien, Bosch, The X-Files and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Sam Braun. He also received a Golden Globe nomination in 1981 for his supporting role in the drama The Ninth Configuration.

I'm a bit bewildered that In Cold Blood isn't the first thing mentioned here in terms of his film roles. He was also Wilson in The Great Gatsby (1974).

Yeah, I just recently saw the Redford Gatsby movie. Noticed him immediately. He was also in Stallone's Judge Dredd, right? As the Pa cannibal. And I saw him in Flesh & Bone. A weird movie with Dennis Quaid, Meg Ryan, James Caan, and a young Gwyneth Paltrow.

Great actor, first saw him in "Shiloh" as Judd in my 4th or 5th grade class. Herschel Greene was also my fav character on TWD til his very effective final episode scene.
Rest in peace Scott Wilson.

The season premeire of TWD tonight was touching, apparently during the time skip there was a new community started named "Herschel" adding to Mr. Wilson's immortal portrayal and ensuring even today his presence is felt among literally anyone who has seen his work or knew him personally.

Had no idea he was Sam Braun in CSI. Huh. RIP sir. I know Hershel is the thing many are going right to (although seeing In Cold Blood mentioned in MANY articles is very nice) but he was always Sam Braun to me. RIP.
