Is anybody feeling kinda queasy about this event after that journalist got murdered? It all feels so wrong. Money doesn’t make it right. It’s hard to comment on it here with it so closely tied to political matters. All I know are two things... 1. WWE isn’t the only US-based company doing business with Saudi Arabia, so I’d hope that those who feel strongly about this are taking it up with those other companies as well 2. As much as WWE probably should do something in regards to this, it shouldn’t be their responsibility to in the first place. It’s a duty more suited to those who were explicitly positioned to deal with those matters, not those running a pro wrestling promotion But you also have the big issue of WWE possibly having to air propaganda.

Vince about to get what he wants,Roman cheered, at least in SA.
"Brock. Im gonna wreck you as if you were a journalist with opposing views. Or a gay. Or a Canadian. Or a woman. Or a Canadian gay woman journalist with opposing views"
I mean they sent Jinder out to get death threats. They have 0 tact.

This company always finds ways to get in some shit huh? Geez. This is a gross, nasty and horrible thing to be involved in. Ugh.
That's all I'll say about it until the actual ppv. They wanted headlines well they'll get em alright.

That man has gotten more actual mixed crowd reactions these last couple months than straight boos.

I am not going to lie, this card looks really good for casual Fans. I am not expecting 5 star matches but I am not mad at all.

Profit is the only moral that matters. There's nothing surprising about that here.
Why let the murder of a journalist (and I have so much I'd like to say more about that specific detail) get in the way of getting a boost in stock prices?

This whole thing went from normal McMahon carnyness to a possible international incident quick

I mean the only way this gets shut down is if WWE loses money over this.
Is this awkward? Yes.
Is something where they lose sponsors or viewers? My gut tells me no. (All though I'd be happy to be worng)
Saudi Arabia is probably too connected to business for sponsors to drop WWE.
I also think sadly the story isn't popular enough to engage special interest groups to make a big fuss about it.

Obviously a lot of people are having to talk around things due to the politics rule. I’m not totally sure what I can say so I just figured I’d ask the moderators: what qualifies as political discussion for this topic? Usually it’s pretty clear-cut and obvious what we should and shouldn’t post but this topic’s a really weird and unique one. Does saying anything about what allegedly happened to the journalist count as political?
I thought it would be fair to ask because this is a big topic that won’t be going away for several weeks, so I figured it might help to get some clarification on this issue. I’m a bit surprised a special sticky thread isn’t up yet.

"British billionaire Richard Branson has frozen business links with Saudi Arabia amid reports that journalist Jamal Khashoggi may have been murdered at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.
Branson says that if the reports are true, it would "clearly change the ability of any of us in the West to do business with the Saudi government.""
Credit Economic Times. Welp.
I have also been reading, and I will try to stay away from this being political, so.. people are saying, I've heard, that the shows are actually a way to funnel money to certain candidates who happen to have family members working for them. Please moderators let me know, I'll delete if it this is against policy. But it's out there.

If you're not sure if any of the comments you want to make pass the politics rule, please tell us in the Ask A Mod thread and we'll let you know from there. We do want to try and keep this thread only for discussion about the show on it's own, but as this is a complicated and developing situation, we're using a bit more discretion until we figure out what further actions are necessary in terms of what kind of discussion takes place.

My e-mail to Snickers really made the difference for that Moolah thing. I'm going to go complain to this about the sponsors of Crown Jewel.
