Michael Cole: I'll tell you one thing about Asuka, she likes to have fun-or uh, play sports.
*Meanwhile in gorilla, Vince McMahon gives a thumbs up and a wink to a Fox executive.*

Make it some hybrid of SD 2003, summer 2009, and fall 2016 and I'll be good. Maybe Fox will want Talking Smack back.

WWE in general needs a sporting format, but it will never happen while Vince is around, and may not even happen when he's gone.

A new format might stick for a month or two but it’ll be back to being Friday Night Raw before long.

So if Fox wants it to be presented as a sport, will their other sports staff treat it like its real? I want to hear Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long break down who is gonna win a Survivor Series Match

Fox is so going to regret this investment. I think it's WWE who may end up regretting the deal. Fox forked over enough money to make demands like this. If they don't get what they want, they can cancel the show. It's their network after all. This is yet another contract Vince signed while having his head up his ass.

Maybe he'll react like he did to Sci Fi channel saying they wanted more characters that fit the channel's theme back with ECW. Maybe they'll bring back like the Spirit Squad again, or do something like the "Raw Bowl" again. Just intentionally terrible stuff to spite anyone for trying to tell him how to do things.
I mean it's kind of been clear for years that if they want a "Raw vs Smackdown" rivalry to be believable in any sense, the shows need to have different feels to them. I think a problem is that Vince is always worried that the show that's not his own vision would outshine the one that is. In his mind wrestling is the cartoon wrestling that he imagines it as, it always was and it always will be. He won the monday night war damn it! And he's going to put on the show he wants.

It could work. I'd work to incorporate more tournaments and battle royals for special events on the Network and utilize TV time on RAW and SmackDown as qualifying matches for stuff on the Network, promos, and storyline building.

Networks pick up shows and cancel them when they don't perform all the time. WWE didn't pay Fox for the time slot, Fox paid them. If they don't get what they paid for, I can't see why they can't pull the show.
