No channel is going to lock itself into a deal it can't possibly get out of. If it doesn't own the content and it's getting the rights to air it, there's going to be warning periods, penalty fees, the whole nines yards, but if Fox decides they want WWE gone there's going to be some way out of the deal. What that ends up entailing, who knows because we don't have the contract in front of us, but nobody is locking themselves into an iron-clad deal for five years of a single program. There might be limitations on when it can make these decisions and what it has to do in the process, and Smackdown would have to crater to get the kind of treatment where Fox could outright cancel it, but don't for a moment think anyone with the kinds of lawyers the actual entertainment industry has is going to be doing dealings with Vince McMahon where they're 100% locked in and can't get out. Networks don't get into those deals, they put other people into those kinds of deals.

But sure American sports presentation is only about 50% sport anyway. The rest is kiss-cams, cheerleaders and adverts. YOU HEARD IT BACK ,TIME TO BRING BACK

So they want a wrestling show to feature... wrestling? Pro wrestling is far more than wrestling though. It's honestly my least favorite aspect of the beast, ironically enough.

They have a product where the actual "Wrestling" aspect of the show means absolutely nothing 99% of the time. So they fill it with, well filler. sometimes it's bad comedy, bad drama, bad acting, and just bad everything.
Find a way to make matches mean something.

FOX basically wants Paul Heyman's SmackDown. And I'm all for it.

I'm surprised Vince hasn't tried to hit up Comedy Central.

Ironically enough, the best TNA ever was was the half-hour shows on Fox Sports when they went balls-to-the-wall for a twenty minute Broadway and fit angles in when appropriate.

If Cormier fights Brock around WrestleMania time, when can he show up on SmackDown at the soonest? Because, if he's busy by then, we might get stuck with Dominick Cruz and his underhooks fetish instead.

Networks don't get into those deals, they put other people into those kinds of deals. Fox definitely has a clause in there that they can move it to FS1 after, I believe, one year. Even if it under performs on Fox, it would be one of the biggest shows on FS1 so I don't see any foreseeable chance Fox tries to outright cancel the deal.

I’ll be surprised if SD doesn’t end up on FS1 at some point.

I love Cormier as a commentator, but I REALLY don't want to hear him call wrestling. I DO want a fight companion for Wrestlemania now, though.

I wait for the day where Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless are on the pre-show or post-show analysis table for a WWE event.
