Biggest problem is the laziness label is sticking on him and he's very hot and cold as a hitter. He'll go through 2 months of looking bad but then he has a 3 week stretch where he is an animal
As a Yankee fan I say do it.

I think there is a method to this rumor. It could just be hot air. But if this deal doesn't happen at all, this could be senting Sanchez a message to clean up his act.

He has the ability to be the best catcher in the league but as long as he keeps being lazy he will be good but never great. Cashman has shown with the deals he's been making, he's not afraid to make that "tough deal" for players he thinks will fit the ball club

Remember a while back when Sanchez was a future cornerstone of the Yanks? And then this year, he was so painfully bad that Yankees fans would almost unanimously do this deal?

He's in the same boat as Manny Machado is in right now. You no doubt have the ability but your lazy attitude is what is killing you and it is rubbing off badly
Last season people were willing to give him a pass. This season it was apparent he was lazy

Machado at least hits. Sanchez did nothing last season. Not to mention Machado is gold glove 3rd basemen.

Machado at least hits. Sanchez did nothing last season. Not to mention Machado is gold glove 3rd basemen. In this deep Yankees line up he's probably the most 5th important hitter on the squad now when he came into this season probably as the most important behind Judge and Giancarlo because those will draw their walks and it was up to Gary to make them pay
Now a healthy Didi is the person in that spot and you have Gleyber probably right behind him or even Hicks. Cashman is dangling his years of service which would be enticing to someone like the Marlins as I can only see them trading Gary if they get a catcher who's dynamic which is the case with J.T.

A blockbuster trade that gained momentum throughout the week has been completed, as the Seattle Mariners have agreed to deal All-Star closer Edwin Diaz and veteran second baseman Robinson Cano to the New York Mets, according to multiple reports.
In return, the Mariners reportedly will receive right fielder Jay Bruce and several prospects -- right-hander Justin Dunn, a first-rounder in 2016; outfielder Jarred Kelenic, the sixth overall pick in 2018; right-handed reliever Anthony Swarzak and right-hander pitcher Gerson Bautista.
The Mariners also are sending $20 million to New York.

Like I said, I REALLY hate giving up Kelenic (scouts were drooling over him) but it's refreshing to see this team actually trying to win now. Apparently Mets aren't done with bullpen help either. Would love to get Andrew Miller on a down year to setup for Diaz.
I hope this is the beginning of a really exciting offseason. The FO seems to finally realize that the fan didn't want a shit product in the present.

So I'll take a stab at the Mets current projected roster:
RF Brandon Nimmo 3B Jeff McNeil 2B Robinson Cano LF Michael Conforto SS Amed Rosario C Travis d'Arnaud 1B Peter Alonso CF Juan Lagares Pitchers spot
SP-Jacob deGrom SP-Noah Syndergaard SP-Zack Wheeler SP-Steven Matz SP-Jason Vargas
Closer-Edwin Diaz Setup-Robert Gsellman Setup-Drew Smith MR-Tyler Bashlor MR-Corey Oswalt MR-Bobby Wahl LR-Seth Lugo
Bench: C-Kevin Plawecki 3B-Todd Frazier 1B-Dom Smith SS-Luis Guillorme C-Tomas Nido
As you can see, a LOT of work needs to be done. Needs are more bullpen help, a Right Fielder, and OF depth in general. A veteran 1st baseman may not be bad either.

1) Juan Lagares stinks. don't know why delusional Mets fans think he is an everday player. still look to upgrade. 2) I think letting go of wilmer was a big mistake. You still need major league talent off the bench/ he could be what Uribe and Kelly Johnson were in 2015. multiple positions and can produce in a pinch hit situation and an occasional start 3) get a new catcher and most importantly.... 4) Unless the Angels suddenly come calling and are offering Mike Trout, DO NOT TRADE THOR!
Separate note- How the hell do we land Kluber? Who can we possibly offer?

The window for these world-beaters is closing, cuz you know they keep trading their future...

J.P. Crawford and Carlos Santana supposed to be coming back in the Mariners trade for Jean Segura Philly is also getting Anthony Swarzak per Nightengale. He'll basically be a Mariner the way Jose Bautista was a Met (the first time...not the recent time where he actually "played" for us.)
