A really bad postseason damaged Kimbrel's value. That and is outrageous asking price He apparently wanted six years and reportedly $100 million or at the very least to break the records set by Chapman and Jansen. I think he would have gotten a bit of money from a team who signed Machado or Harper not named the Yankees or Dodgers but his market has come down and I see no real clear team for him that can dish out 5 years and 60 million Still can't believe that all the Yankees needed to do to win game 4 of the ALDS would have been to not swing at Kimbrel's pitches. He had a hard time finding the strike zone the entire postseason, but in that game he could not find it.

Man, ANOTHER Mets trade. This time they trade OF Ross Adolph (2018 12th rounder), 2B Luis Santana (breakout year in the low minors), and C Scott Manea for 3B/OF and former top prospect J.D. Davis and 2B Cody Bohanek. Here's what the Mets have done so far in a rare busy offseason: Lost: IF/OF Jack Reinheimer (Claimed by Cubs) IF Wilmer Flores (Non-tendered) OF Jared Kelenic (Traded to Seattle) RHP Justin Dunn (Traded to Seattle) RHP Anthony Swarzak (Traded to Seattle) OF Jay Bruce (Traded to Seattle) RHP Gerson Bautista (Traded to Seattle) RHP Adam Hill (Traded to Brewers) RHP Bobby Wahl (Traded to Brewers) INF Felix Valerio (Traded to Brewers) INF Luis Santana (Traded to Astros) OF Ross Adolph (Traded to Astros) C Scott Manea (Traded to Astros) Gained: 2B Dilson Herrera (Minor league deal with ST invite) 2B Robinson Cano (Trade with Seattle) RHP Edwin Diaz (Trade with Seattle) RHP Kyle Dowdy (Rule 5 MLB section from Cleveland) OF Braxton Lee (Rule 5 minor league phase section from Miami) RHP Chris Mazza (Rule 5 minor league phase section from Seattle) C Chris Ghelfi (Rule 5 minor league phase section from Angels) RHP Jeryus Familia (Free agent signing) CF Rajai Davis (Minor league deal with ST invite) C Wilson Ramos (Free agent signing) CF Gregor Blanco (Minor league deal with ST invite) OF Keon Broxton (Trade with Brewers) INF/OF J.D. Davis (Trade with Astros) Pumped. We're actually making trades and even a few signings. Let's go Mets! but none of that is harper or machado so none of it matters Lol. Yeah not exactly wrong. We’re still missing some punch

Tho at the most important time in the World Series he did improve and wasn't the problem he was early on costing them games
He def came out thinking his post season performance wasn't going to cost him but that crazy asking price i'm sure threw a lot of people off. It would be a nice story to see sign sign with Manny or Bryce in Philly or Chicago with record setting contracts but that don't look to be in the cards
I'm sure Red Sox are waiting for his asking price to continue to slip in order to bring him back and I won't be surprised if ATL comes back into the mix to sign him

In irrelevant news, the Tampa Bay Ray's have tarped off the entire upper deck, reducing seating capacity at Tropicana Field to 26,000.
As if the Trop wasn't lame enough.

I think they want to stay in Orlando and Jacksonville was a suggestion

Giants and Brewers have had talks about MadBum. Wonder what kind of package they’re offering?

The Red Sox had two objectives in this off-season: address the back end of the starting rotation and load up on bullpen talent. They did the first back in the beginning of December when Nathan Eovaldi re-signed for four years and $67.5 million, but they've done absolutely nothing to address their team's one true weakness - bullpen depth - while the rest of the league has pilfered the reliever market nearly dry while the Red Sox twiddle their thumbs. Going into the off-season, I said the Red Sox needed to land at least two marquee relief pitchers - a closer (in case Craig Kimbrel departed) and a surefire set-up man. And over the past few weeks, we've watched as Zach Britton, Joe Kelly, Andrew Miller, Jeurys Familia, David Robertson, Joakim Soria, and Kelvin Herrera all found new homes. Now, the upper tier market is down to Kimbrel and Adam Ottavino. I cannot stress enough how much the Red Sox need to sign both. And it seems like the front office is aware of the need to address the bullpen, given the rumors that they wanted to trade Rick Porcello, Jackie Bradley Jr., or Xander Bogaerts to clear up space to sign a reliever. But Boston has the money to keep those three on the roster and go out and sign two stud relief pitchers. They just can't let Kimbrel and Ottavino find new homes, especially if one of those homes is Yankee Stadium. Giants and Brewers have had talks about MadBum. Wonder what kind of package they’re offering? Milwaukee doesn't have a ton of prospect depth, so I've got to imagine any package for Bumgarner would be centered around infielders Keston Hiura or Brice Turang or outfielder Corey Ray. Bumgarner has had a down few seasons (by his lofty standards) but he's still one of the best pitchers in the National League and one of the few bonafide aces in the sport. In irrelevant news, the Tampa Bay Ray's have tarped off the entire upper deck, reducing seating capacity at Tropicana Field to 26,000. As if the Trop wasn't lame enough. They need to get out of Florida. As they and the Marlins have proven time and again over the better part of the last 30 years, pro baseball only works in Florida if the team is really good. The moment the team starts to falter, the fans flee. The thousands of empty seats inside Hard Rock Stadium then Marlins Park and Tropicana Field can attest to that. Rob Manfred earlier this year listed six cities as candidates for possible expansion, and I think each would be better options for the Rays than to find a new ballpark in Florida. They included Portland, Las Vegas, Charlotte, Nashville, Montreal, and Vancouver. Each would welcome a franchise with open arms and would be sure to sell better than the Rays whether at the Trop or a new park.

Giants and Brewers have had talks about MadBum. Wonder what kind of package they’re offering? Considering the going rate for uber-talented starting pitchers, I'd venture to guess the ask is JT Realmuto....

Rumor is Yanks have not mad a formal offer to Machado and even then what was talked about wasn’t over $200 million

Moustakas is still out there
He seems to be a fall back for a few teams if they can't get Machado
Think Yanks should take a look at him at 1B if they don't get Manny

Yasmani Grandal to the Brewers 1 year $18.25 million
He must regret leaving that deal from the Mets on the table

AT&T Park is now Oracle Park, with a 300 million dollar naming right purchase.
The Giants have used their new revenue wisely, spending slightly more than $500,000 this entire offseason.
Yay!

Yasmani Grandal to the Brewers 1 year $18.25 million He must regret leaving that deal from the Mets on the table Why did the Dodgers let him go? Was it because he bottomed out in the playoffs? Or because it’s the Dodgers, I’ll venture a guess they have a young stud prospect waiting in the wings.

Or because it’s the Dodgers, I’ll venture a guess they have a young stud prospect waiting in the wings. It's not the Dodgers didn't want him back (though that post season performance didn't help) but they weren't going to bring him back at the price he was supposed to sign for which was in the range of $60 million as he was the top catcher on the market. He turned down the QO from the Dodgers and could have went back to sign that same 1 year deal but decided to leave which i'm sure the Dodgers are like f***
Dodgers have about 3 catching prospects, 1 which is Kelbert Ruiz who is their 2nd ranked prospect and a top 50 overall. He's not going to be ready until about 2020 tho which is why they didn't want Grandal long term but would have loved him back for a one year
