This hurts, a lot. Dude was an icon that helped shape pop culture in many ways. His characters have made us laugh, cry and gave us hope for the future.
Rest in Paradise, good sir.

Shit, without Stan, Marvel might not have become the juggernaut it is, Optimus Prime and Megatron might be vastly different characters, and might not even have those names.
And let us not forget where Terry Bollea got the name "Hulk" from.

Not to nitpick, but I'm pretty sure Vince J. came up with Hogan cuz he wanted to try catering to the Irish population to see if it would work as well as Bruno did with the Italian community. But that still is a cool connection, especially with who Peter's first opponent in the 2002 movie;)

This is a sad one. I loved Marvel, it was a huge part of my teenage years.
Lee was one of those larger than life figures, a bit like Vince McMahon, who you just think is gonna be around forever.
He always came across as an amazing guy as well. So genuinely grateful that people love his work. That his characters are still adored so many years after their creation.
When you see clips of him with fans. He just seems like a great, great man. Plus a born entertainer and showman who was loaded with charisma.

Fun fact, the Toku genre may not have had giant robots if not for Spider-Man. Talk about trickle down effects. No Super Sentai or Power Ranger since they were influenced by the japanese Spider-Man show. Also no TMNT either. Stan Lee work had a effect on alot of stuff. And if Lee had his way, Taiyo Sentai Sun Vulcan would have brought Super Sentai to America a decade earlier.

I'm honestly in shock. I didn't think he'd live forever, but I thought he would at least outlive me.
RIP Stan Lee.

Acknowledging that he had an incredible team of writers to work with on the titles, but might it be a stretch to say Stan Lee could well be considered the Modern Age's William Shakespeare?

A couple of friends called me and say they were sorry for Stan dying because they knew I like comic books. I shouldn’t feel this bad, I never met the guy and he could’ve been a douche in real life, but I just feel empty and sad.
One of my first memories ever at four years old was watching the pages of a Superman vs Spider-Man one off. The earliest memory I have is of something Stan created.
He created the myths and folklore that will still be around for hundreds of years. Other than the silver age flash, Stan probably saved the comic book genre from going extint. He tried to feature minorities and I don’t think any other writer was brave enough to do it. He saved Captain America from basically being cancelled.
From my first console ever, a Sega Genesis til now, there are multiple games of characters Stan created.
Just f*** man. He truly changed the world. Every modern medium from now on will steal from his ideas.

Always a classy move when even a rival company can pay their respects towards someone that was so important to their respective business you have to think given he'd been in the biz for 50 years most of DC's major staff were friends with him on at least some level. This really has to sting for all the big comics companies. Both comic book companies are generally respectful and supportive of each other. When one does well, the other one congratulates them. The number of people working at Marvel that were partly inspired to get into comic books because of DC heroes, is high. And the same is true with DC people being inspired by the Marvel books. Stan Lee helped to create characters that have inspired writers, artists, and actors that are continuing to keep those characters as loved. That's not even getting into the countless other people not in the comic book industry that were inspired by those characters.

Growing up, my exposure to Marvel was reading Spider-Man and X-Men. Wolverine was the first character that got my attention. As a kid, when you see a guy with a cool yellow and blue costume and see that he has claws and can heal too? Man, that was badass to me.
Some of my favourite memories are of Saturday mornings and watching Spider-Man: The Animated Series, and X-Men: The Animated Series right before school on Sky One, or after school on BBC One. Even over the last few years, i've been taking my nephew to see every Marvel movie that's been released. It's sort of been our thing we do (though he's 11 now and didn't see Ant-Man and the Wasp with me so I think it's something he's growing out of), and every time Stan popped up in his cameos, I explained to him that old man he sees in every movie is mostly responsible for this whole Marvel world we're watching, and he was amazed to find that out. Now, every time he sees Stan cameo he looks at me and whispers "It's Stan Lee!"
Thank you Stan, for creating a world I could escape to when I couldn't face the real one, now every time I go to a con as Rocket, i'll put that fur suit on and do it with gusto. Excelsior!

It’s just hitting me that the final movie cameo Stan Lee made that was released in his lifetime was Teen Titans Go To The Movies — a DC Movie with the big joke of his appearance being that he doesn’t care he didn’t create any of the characters, he just loves making cameos in movies.
I don’t know what that says, but it sure says something.

His spirit will be immortalized. By the story tellers, by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him.
