Yeah, meta kayfabe confuses a LOT of people. Yeah, ive seen people on twitter and SquaredCircle take this to heart and really turn up the vitriol. Kinda sad, but it gets the heel heat they want. So technically it’s a win for heel Nia. When a person keeps hurting people, and in character always responds with glee. There comes a point where people begin to think that maybe, just maybe, a small part of them likes it. With this one, it may have been a slipped punch, but it's not that hard to be convinced that Nia wanted a spot at the top of the division. Wouldn't be the first time in recent memory that injuring someone resulted in a push.

No offense to your view on it, but I’m pretty sure that person wouldn’t have made it this far in the company if they get some sort of weird pleasure out of hurting others. It’s been established that what Jinder and I’m sure Nia did wasnt on purpose and was a simple misshape. Plus, if you look at how they are outside the ring, both come across as extremely sweet and likeable people.

Becky should respond with a gif of Jericho smashing Chyna’s hand with a hammer. “I’m studying tapes while recovering”.

I'm pretty sure most people realized that post was in character. You’d be surprised unfortunately. Yeah, looking at even some of the responses in this thread.....no, I don't think some of them do. I mean, some of the people on here even kind of take what happens on the show WAY more seriously than they should, at least in the sense of judging the talent themselves by their booking/win-loss record. Sure, some of them are joking, but the problem is that some of the posters take it 100% seriously. Of course, this is why WWE's new method of Kayfabe kind of works. We've become so arrogant in our "smartness" that we think we're immune to being worked, which is exactly why we still can be.

Are we all getting worked? Is that what's happening? Is this what wrestling is gonna be now going forward? I don't think I like it. Yes, we are all getting worked. And I love it. I think it's a possibility the entire thing is a work, save for the busted nose or eye, which is obviously legit. From the first time I read the concussion thing I was skeptical. I'm even more so now that I'm reading rumors that Vince has decided Lynch-Rousey will headline Wrestlemania. Having played ball and also worked in athletics, I have to say Becky seemed a hell of a lot more alert and clear-eyed Monday night than anybody I've ever been around immediately after suffering a concussion. I think it's very possible that Vince decided Monday night that Becky and Ronda was too big to waste on the Survivor Series and saw the graphic-looking injury Becky suffered as a way to get this off Sunday and hold it until Mania. Saying she's out for a while due to concussion protocol gives them a legit-sounding out whereas calling it off due to a bone fracture sounds kinda weak. But, yes, I think its possible all this is a work that WWE stumbled into and hopefully they run like hell with it.

Exactly. WWE is aware of this on some level. Its why Roman's been the second-last one in the Royal Rumble the last two years for example, 'smart' fans feel he always gets pushed and wins, so they can use him as a way of pushing other guys, hence even Randy Orton getting wildly cheered for winning last year.

I mean, I know full well that this whole Nia thing and other incidents like it are just the person putting on a character. I just think trying to blur the lines on what everyone knows is fiction in 2018 makes everyone involved look like an idiot.

Even if the concussion wasn't an issue, I could totally understand them holding off to give her time to heal her face. The skull can take a lot but when it's already damaged, acting like it isn't is just tempting fate. Really with an injury like that I probably wouldn't want to take chances that she has even a slight concussion since wrestling with a concussion, even a mild one would be incredibly dangerous.

Ronda got murdered again. And she keeps repeating the same dull shit over and over, it's sad really... Ronda at least got a better shot than usual in there since it wasn't a wall of text. Hopefully by the end this isn't as one sided as Cena/Roman in their promos+twitter exchanges.

Ronda's millennial digs sure are oddly specific. Korean shows on Netflix? Take another sip of Kombucha? Hmmmmm

Granted, it was a small select few who took it seriously, but still. Sort of off topic, but this is why I advocate taking a small ten minute break to process what went down on a show/PPV/even a tweet. Whether it’s a win, a loss, a swerve, a promo, etc. instead of going in completely fresh faced. Because as much as I like the live threads, most of them are insanely negative and even heated at some segments due to them reacting right as it happens rather than taking a couple minutes to process what the f*** just happened lol

Behold, the new Blood from a Stone shirt. Tell me where to send my 35 bucks and size, I’ll buy one now. That may possibly top "Lass Kicker" as shirts that look bad without context on a man.

I personally like Social Media Kayfabe, but I understand how in the age of "Don't get caught slippin' up" (Especially when a big part of someone's overness these days is how much fans (think they) like (what they know of) the "real person"), how it plays havoc with certain people.
