Am I only one who thought this was about George R.R Martin giving up on World of Warcraft?

I just don’t think he knows how to finish the story. He knows the ending. But doesn’t know how to get their in the fashion he wants. And he doesn’t want to take shortcuts like Benoit and Weiss arguably did. Still, I can’t imagine that he’s happy that someone is going to, by and large, finish his story before he does.

Martin did everything in his power to not finish the story, he wrote everything regarding book companions for A song of Ice and Fire except the main series. It’s his fault that the tv series had to finish the story.

Well he had no choice. They had him give up the ending just in case something happened to him So the fear is now the tv ending is as close to the ending we will get

Allegedly he still uses an ancient computer to write his stuff, I bet that the piece of shit died and it had all of his work there so now he has to start from the beginning.

He doesn’t know how to finish his story. Look at the “dark night of the soul” part of that quote. That tells me that he sits at his typewriter and doesn’t have any idea what to write. And after seven years, maybe he never will.

Sitting on your ass and pissing fans off, then acting like you're just as poorly off when you've written everything BUT the one things the fans want for the best part of a decade is bull. If he can't finish it, pay someone else to, he's got HBO money, he can afford it.

I’d be down for whatever get these books in my hands as quickly as possible. I’m just giving my thoughts as to why this is taking so goddamn long.

He edited other books, he developed other movie projects. He never wanted to finish it.

Allegedly he still uses an ancient computer to write his stuff, I bet that the piece of shit died and it had all of his work there so now he has to start from the beginning. From his own words “I still do all my writing on an old DOS machine running WordStar 4.0, the Duesenberg of word processing software (very old, but unsurpassed)." He does at least have a new monitor though! (and probably a modern computer set up to run DOS, rather than an actual old DOS era machine) I have to imagine he's got backups. I can't imagine his publishers not insisting on it.

At this point, I expect either a Dallas "it was all a dream" ending. Or worse, a Newhart ending.

I'd rather him take his time to write a well written story than rush it and have it be convoluted like the last two Dark Tower books.

Am I only one who thought this was about George R.R Martin giving up on World of Warcraft? Hey George, we get it. That's why legacy servers are a thing.
