Arguably the greatest wrestling show of all time during a creative zenith for WWF, all these matches are good to amazing (except maybe the Chyna match), but which is the best?
I've allowed two votes as I'm sure there's going to be a lot of hand ringing from people who can't choose just one (me).

The Gimmick Battle Royal was far from the best technical match of the night, but it was sure as hell the most entertaining. For me personally, it's also the most memorable by quite a large margin.
I'd argue it's the only "Legendary Match" from that PPV. And bare in mind I think most everything from this show was great. It's just that this match was truly Legendary.

TLC will probably win this poll, but for me, it was Austin-Rock. I never liked the car crash TLC matches like most people. I just look at them as ridiculous risks for no reason. 5 of the 6 men in those matches have retired early because of those matches. Senseless violence for the sake of getting on a highlight reel. Austin/Rock, however, was an amazing match with real emotion and crowd investment in the two guys as people. My second vote was for Shane and Vince purely because of the story and emotion in the match. The crowd pop when Linda McMahon stood up is probably my favorite in all of wrestling.

It's Hunter and Taker's first or second best match, and the right guy actually won without a dumb booking decision that basically poisoned/killed the audience over the course of a decade and a half.

It's hard not to vote for TLC 2, but for sheer atmosphere and for the supposed consequences afterwards, Austin/Rock does it for me.

I had to chose my two favourite matches, TLC 2 and Vince vs Shane. Both are examples of why I love wrestling so much. A close third would have been Rock v Austin if not only for that crowd and the relentless pace of the match.

This was the best Austin Rock go around IMO.

While I agree in principle that senseless violence sucks, I believe this TLC match between the three teams was the culmination of 18 months of feuding and matches. This was the last great ladder match until the first MitB.

This is tough because it's clearly Austin vs Rock except that the ending killed the business to a point where it hasn't recovered.
Shane vs Vince was booked perfectly for what it was.

It's just that I was 14 or 15 when I first watched it and at that time, I thought it was amazing. Now, at 33, I find it unwatchable. My tastes have just changed as a fan and as a person. At age 14 or 15, I would think, "I can't wait to see what the highest thing Jeff Hardy can jump off of will be." Now, I see a Shane McMahon Hell in a Cell match announced, and I just groan and think, "I hope nothing goes wrong with his stunts. He has kids who need him." My tastes have just changed to appreciate less violence, not to crap on the work that those guys in the TLC match did.

I agree, I think we're both on the same side of the argument but coming from different vantage points. The reason TLC 2 works for me is because it's not just a stuntfest - it is completely that but all three teams and their third guy meld together so well and there's a lot of history between them - they all came up together. It's almost a double edged sword because it set the standard that had to be bested for the next 17 years and the concept has become so diluted nothing has had the same power since.

TLC 2 was great from a sheer spectacle perspective, whereas Regal/Jericho was a simple but really well planned match from a psychology perspective.
Rock/Austin dragged out the heel turn ending for way too long and basically set up the stage for every "kick out of 100 finishers" match that followed.

The GBR was also Heenan's last WWF commentary work, so it's special piece. And for a night, we had Heenan, Cornette & Heyman in the same building.

Definitely Austin/Rock.
The kick out after the Stunner is still one of my favorite spots. Back when kicking out of finishers didn’t happen 16 times in a match.

TLC II, just an amazing car crash of a match that definitely shortened everyone's careers that were involved.

Definitely Rock and Austin. Such an intense and fierce match that has me hooked from bell to bell every time I go back and rewatch it. Commentary by JR and Heyman is near perfect(especially during the heel tirn), Austin interacting with the ref, busting out the Million Dollar Dream along with the Survivor Series 1996 callback. Trading sharpshooters was awesome, too.
I know the heel turn wasn't what was best, and the idea Steve had in hindsight of calling an audible and stunning Vince would have blown the roof off the place, but I still enjoy it. Besides, I think the Invasion re-heel turn did way more damage.

I give it to Austin/Rock and far as TLC 2 there's a couple other TLC's i prefer.

Austin Vs Rock.
The story was serendipitously simple and beautiful. These two old rivals had reached their absolute high respectively and found themselves at odds one more time for the belt to determine not only who was superior but superior in the sense of the entire wrestling world.
Also, just technically speaking, Austin Vs Rock. I know Snow and others have mentioned a good show builds and builds throughout the entire card until it should peak with the last moment, and WMX7 is a perfect card that builds and builds and builds until that very last pinball when Austin wins and the place loses their shit.
