When Jim Johnston left, his big criticism was CFO$ made music without the characters in mind
Lacey Evan's character is a bad ass 1950's style of woman...so her music is a mid 2000's sounding pop song? Just because you put relevant lyrics into it, does not make the rest fit her character.

I think Lacey's theme is one of the best in NXT right now... it constantly gets stuck in my head.

We have to agree to Disagree here, this one actually fits Lacey really well.

We have to agree to Disagree here, this one actually fits Lacey really well. Yeah, closest I can think it is to 2000s music is Christina Aguilera. When she tried doing that 40's style music.

I think it fits plenty. Yeah, it's pretty poppy but it does have a sound to it that's very appropriate for the gimmick, it's music you can march to.

This is the first time I've heard it but it doesn't even sound like "entrance music" to me. It just sounds like a song. It's pretty bland.

Not sure I agree with Johnston here. CFO$ can make some pretty terrible themes when they're not personally invested in X wrestler (one has to remember that they're huge internet fans themselves) but they've made so many themes that I find to be hugely iconic with a specific wrestler. I won't go down the entire list here but just go through the NXT roster from the last 5 years and you can see what I'm talking about.

They're like anyone, even Jim Johnston had his share of generic themes, as fondly as he's rightly remembered. Stuff like Becky, Asuka, Sasha, Bayley, Aleister Black, Shinsuke, Sami Zayn, Tyler Breeze and more are awesome tunes and very much related to their wrestlers.

She could definitely use more 30s/40s influence in her music. A few big band instruments in the mix, especially some horns. Given the USO influence in her gimmick, this comes to mind.
a bit of this
Maybe team up with Postmodern Jukebox or something, though they have more of a jazz thing going on.
Plus, how cool would it be if she had a song that they could actually have a big band out there playing set up like a USO show at Wrestlemania?

Another direction they could go is straight up orchestral anthem, with a sound like any of the armed services songs
As an aside, we often go to Greenfield Village in Detroit for their 4th of July show, which always features one of the armed services bands. Army maybe? They play the melody of the armed forces themes and ask anyone in the audience from those branches to stand up while their song plays. It is really neat.

I would say it's probably not even an issue of that so much as it is of timing. A lot of the real stinker themes we've had come from a very sudden situation or breakup nobody was really expecting and which feels like it had a demand for a new priority theme song top of the pile right right now. In interviews with them they've even talked about how working for WWE means having situations where they get really short-notice demands for a new theme they have to get to working on and it can't wait because there's live TV to do.
