As someone who's watched his progress on 205 Live closer than most, it's f***ing awesome to see Mustafa Ali get a featured run on SmackDown to the point where he's apparently joining their roster. That said, it leaves a gaping hole on 205 Live. Ali, along with Buddy Murphy and Cedric Alexander have been the pillars that kept the show from really sinking into nothingness in the last year... But, Ali rose from relative anonymity to become something great, why not give that chance to someone else? And no, shutting down the show won't be an option in this hypothetical.
Someone that I think who could fit the bill of someone that has the potential to pull out that surprise banger match is Humberto Carrillo from NXT, the former Ultimo Ninja. He's only done some scattered enhancement work on TV, mostly teaming with Raul Mendoza, but he's shown some impressive stuff and he could be a great fit for 205 Live. Or it could be someone who has been very underutilised on the main roster so far, but has proven capable of the banger match in the past... Tyler Breeze. It might leave Fandango high and dry, but Breeze could be that guy too.

Here's a name that has suddenly found himself with nothing going on, but could take advantage of an opportunity to reinvent himself.
Shane Thorne. Imagine if he just shows up to 205 Live with a new persona and ends up on the Cruiserweight radar out of nowhere. It's the kind of sink or swim scenario that doesn't come around often.

We saw almost that same thing happen with Buddy Murphy--dead end tag team that looked to be positioned for big things ends up stalling out, breaks up for one reason or another, the more ready guy moves on to 205 Live a while later--and it's done wonders for him, so I would definitely be keen to see how he would do in that same position.

Marcel Barthel would be a really unique fit for the show. He’s billed at 210lbs, but he doesn’t really look that big.

Probably because they were used as a Jr. Heavyweight tag team prior to coming to NXT, and then worked tag teams all bigger than they are, like AoP, SAnitY, Street Prophets, and Heavy Machinery. Hell, I would have sworn The Revival had a bit of size on them, with TM-61/Mighty working a flippy style while Dash and Dawson being all fists, no flips.

Do we really have to sacrifice somebody to the purple corner logo? Even the guys who aren't any good are too good for 205 Live.

That's one of my serious answers. Another is Fabian Aichner. And then Tyler Bate. If Tyler's not gonna be on the main NXT show, I'd still rather he received a solo run.

Get rid of 205 and use all those guys on the main RAW roster to create some fresh matches

I feel like 205 Live might be headed towards the chopping block at some point. Nothing to support it, just a feeling.

I wonder when they’re going to sign Austin Theory? Also Montez Ford would be great if he wasn’t working with Marty Jadawkins.

The same people screaming get rid of 205 aren’t watching it tho
For my answer I’d say if they ever decided to turn Lio Rush face he could work
Otherwise this is a chance for someone like Mike Bennett to shine. Obviously not same role but he can find himself rising up the ranks like Buddy Murphy did

I don’t understand why so many people are desperate for a show to end. Like..just don’t watch it.

Still want Big Show to show up on 205 and wrestle with his lawyer claiming it's 205 kilos instead of pounds
