Anyone else played this? It kinda got swallowed in the wake of Marvel Ultimate Alliance since they came out at the same time ( and MUA was awesome) but I rented it and this game actually rocks too.
I think the storyline is a bit better than in Ulimate ( I mean it was great, but there wasn't much more to it than Doom taking over which ain't bad, just saying) and the game is quite fun.
It's a lot like the DC version of those X-men Legends games. There's a few fun unlockable characters ( the de facto Green Lantern in the game is John Stewart, but you can get both Hal and Kyle.. no Alan Scott though, which sucks as he's the best.) A few costumes you can buy such as Earth 2 Superman, and Jay Garrick ( who I replaced Wally with.)
Some neat two man teams can be formed, right now I got the World's Finest ( Bats and Supes for those of ya not in the know), Ollie and Hal ( unlocked em both just to pair em up.) and Jay Garrick and Zatanna.
The graphics of the cutscenes are quite good. The voice actors on some ( Batman in particular) leave a bit to be desired ( though Zatanna and a few others are quite good) but that was a gripe I had with Ultimate Alliance as well.
Overall though, two thumbs for this game. If you missed it when it first came out like I did, check it out.

It apparently wasn't very well liked by most people, but I thought it was a LOT of fun.
Also, I thought Batman probably had the best voice in the entire game. Then again, I'm a huge Ron Perlman mark.

Own it, beat it on the first 3 difficulties, thought it could have been about 8 hours longer and had a meatier story, but liked it. MUA owns it harsh, tho.

Granted, I'm not denying MUA is the superior game.

I thought you kinda got pushed to use the Top 7 too much. I felt in that regard, it was a bit like X-Men Legends 1, where for certain parts, you had to use certain teams (but to be fair, if I knew I was gonna fight the Juggernaut in the X-Mansion circa 1964, I would have chosen to play as the original X-Men in their old school costumes anyway).
Also, if you're gonna play as World's Finest and you wanna look spiffy, Superman's Kandor outfit and Batman's Infiltration Suit are sex.

I'll have to unlock those. I know what you mean though, when it came time to fight the Doomsday Clone, I had selected Hal and Ollie for that leg of the mission, not knowing I'd have to fight him. Needless to see I hadda restart the ep. and get Kal to handle things. I woulda liked more characters, or better selection of unlockable ones ( I don't care one whit about Huntress and Hawgirl for example.)

Huntress and Hawkgirl arent bad, actually. But if this game gets a sequal with no Supergirl or Nightwing, and I'm beating the shit outta someone.
But yeah, you gotta get thru the game using only like, 2 unlockables in order for them to be of any use. It sucks.
And yet, Darkseid killed my whole team and was severly weakened by a level 5 Kyle Rayner, who then died, and was taken out of his final health bar by Green Arrow, by himself. The moral: Hard Travelin' Heroes FTW. Also, Kyle Rayner/Connor Hawke OTP.

I was interested in it, primarily because it was made by Snowblind, who made the Champs of Norrath games. Champs was so much fun for me and my buds, because we'd all just play it for hours straight, fighting over weapons and money and trash talking eachohters' characters.
I ended up not buying the Justice League game for two reasons; (1), it was only 2 players, which sucks because Champs was so much fun because it was 4 players, and (2), as I said, a lot of the fun in Champs was finding and buying new weapons, waiting to be a high enough level for weapons, trading weapons, and the same with armor. And it appears (and I may be wrong) that Justice League isn't as item-centered as that. You have powers to unlock, and that's it.

I'm not sure how many items a superhero needs. Just unlockable powers make sense. I dunno, I thought the game was an absolute blast, for how short it was.

I still havent gotten my copy of Champions: Return to Arms (the sequal to Norrath) back from my friend George, I now remember. Bastard.

What I meant was that the whole items-based economy was just more fun in a group environment (the same goes for Crystal Chronicles). But I get what you're saying. I'll get to it eventually. I enjoyed Ultimate Alliance, so this should be fun as well.

Yeah, Ultimate Alliance is a total blast too. I haven't beaten it, but I played it on my friend's PS3 and it was way awesome.

I tried it and felt that the combat in it wasn't as tight as MUA's... and MUA's isn't all that tight if you know what I mean.
Edit: You know, with all the comics fans in here... I am honestly surprised there aren't more folks into the City of Heroes MMORPG. Seriously.

City of Heroes is awesome. It's really the only MMO I like. I even got tired of it after about a week...but it's the best I've ever played.
The sheer amount of customization you have for your character is amazing.

The sheer amount of customization you have for your character is amazing. The game is soooo much fun if you have a regular group going. Some friends and I made a "Super Team" of 5 characters where our costumes matches completely and every one of our power choices and enhancement slots was chosen to benefit the whole team's scheme. I played a Dark/Dark Defender, we had a Spines/Dark Scrapper, a Rad/Rad Defender, an Ice/Fire Blaster, and I can't remember what type of controller we had, but they had Empathy as their secondary set. Oh, we had a Storm/Elec Defender too. It was crazy how well it worked, while leveling we'd pull 100+ even-level enemies and then just lay waste to them with area-effect damage.
