As seen on Raw:
Aside from the “ugh more belts” feeling, I’m stoked there’s finally more opportunity for the women to wear gold. Teams like the Boss and Hug Connecfion, The Riott Squad, the IIconics, Mandy and Sonya, Nia and Tamina, etc. have something to gun for when they’re not being featured in the women’s main event picture. Hopefully they’re a cross-branded title though, because I don’t see any chance for this to succeed if there are two sets of champions.
(Happy holidays by the way.)
EDIT: The first champions will be decided in the Elimination Chamber!

I just had this thought. Sasha and Bayley seem to be the women most vocal about these championships. They've talked about it in interviews, on TV, they talk about it on social media a lot. It clearly means a lot to them. It's going to be really depressing if they are not the first champions or even win the titles at all. You can do 2 tournaments. One among the Raw teams, one among the Smackdown teams. Then you crown the inaugural champions at Wrestlemania. That would be a legit feel good moment for Bayley and Sasha to win those titles at Wrestlemania. Instead, WWE will probably go with a final match of Nia & Tamina vs Naomi & Carmella because Total Divas

Yeah, they definitely have to be defended across both shows. Not enough tag teams for two sets of Women's Tag Titles. Boss and Hug, Riott Squad, IIconics, Dandy and Nia and Tamina is a decent division to start out with. Plus you could also have teams like Becky and Charlotte (I feel like it's inevitable that they're going to win them at some point), Mickie and Alicia and maybe Lana and Carmella which they teased like a month ago.

Huh, neat. I just hope they don't do a long drawn out tournament ending at WM. I do have some hope since he didn't say they'd be crowned there. Have the talent mix things up looking for the right partner, build some tension with Mickie, Alicia, and Bliss or the Riott Squad, and bring some ladies back with the hopes of sticking around by winning them or beating the champs in build up.

It is an interesting one if it is to be on only one show or defended on both brands - which I absolutely think it should be. This will make the argument for one Women’s World Champion stronger, which in turn makes the argument for one men’s World Champ stronger.
Too many belts and title matches devalue championships, so I definitely think in adding these they need to also look at reducing or merging other titles to make way for them.
John Cena being on both shows may also hint at how things could work going forward. Brand split to some extent is necessary to ensure talent gets tv time, but two of every title is not at all necessary.

Just...have a plan for this stuff, alright?
Like, don’t have for example The Riott Squad win them and never be on the show for half a year whilst the bigger stars are fighting for hell all.

I’ve got a feeling they’ll end up doing a tag battle royal at Mania to crown the first set of champs. That way they get the requisite “get everyone on the card” match, but there’s actually stakes.

Just make Sasha and Bayley be the inaugural champions and start the division with great wrestling all-around. If they're really going with this "we listen to the fans" thing then hey it's gotta be them starting it off.

That’s cool. I was against it at first but I think the women’s division has grown enough to sustain it. Plus if they aren’t gonna do shit else with Sasha and Bayley might as well let them have this.

A progressive feather in his cap before he passes, but the women earned every bit of it.

Cena being on both shows goes back to last year, they just want him to prop up both shows when he's free. And there is zero chance of the titles being merged with the hard split they're going with and sold to two different companies for over $2,000,000,000. I'd sooner expect them to make a women's only show on the Network or make the Women's division exclusive to one brand like the cruisers have.

I guess they'll either be a co=brand thing or the divisions are getting tag belts each.
Sasha/Bayley seem like the easy go to for RAW but I kinda wanna see Riott Squad take it so Sasha and Bayley have something to fight for in a legit manner.
On the Smackdown side I really just want the IIconics to do something...

I'd love to see Sasha/Bayley vs Lita/Trish at Wrestlemania as the inaugural tag title match.

So...
Will they mention at all there used to be Women's Tag Team Titles, or are we to pretend those titles never existed despite being defended at the first Royal Rumble?
Don't get me wrong, glad to see them being made. Just feel that the old Women's Tags should at least be hinted at in this.
...or maybe I just want the Jumping Bomb Angels to be recognized again, I dunno.

I've made this point before: The only thing WWE books worse than women, is tag teams. Why anyone thinks these belts are good ideas are beyond me. Plus, the more belts there are, the less they mean anything.

Apologies, I maybe didn’t explain my point on Cena being on both shows very well initially. I know he did the whole free agent thing last year too - my point was purely that if one guy can represent both there is no reason why a champion couldn’t also do so in the same way. I don’t really see why they couldn’t even with the TV deal situation. I know there was that story about Fox not wanting to promote another networks talent - but even if that is the case if you are telling both networks they will definitely have the top star I think they would be willing to go for it. As things stand at least one of the two will be annoyed that they do not have whoever is hot at any given time - and generally that person should be the champ or chasing the champ (in an ideal world). I think it would be difficult to have the women’s division brand exclusive, though I can see merit in that whilst there is a lack of roster depth. Both networks I imagine would not want to be left with no women’s division though at a time when it is arguably the best thing in WWE and on the rise.

It's one of the matches that, if the WWE games ever did a Women's Wrestling History Showcase, I'd want in the mode.

Who were the last holders of the previous women's tag titles? If they are still considered the holders they should have to defend them... lol.
