Added to Netflix yesterday
As anybody tried this out yet?
I'm going to be trying it pretty soon.
For anybody who doesn't know, it's an interactive movie - a choose your own adventure - no doubt in a Black Mirror way

I watched it (played it?) earlier. It's really smooth and really well done. Not the best Black Mirror episode, but definitely worth a run through!

I hated how certain choices only lead to a prompt to go back and choose again. Either write a truly interactive show where every variant has it's own conclusive outcome or just tell the narrative you want to tell and leave me out of it. The worst of both worlds is this illusion of choice where you pick 'destroy computer' and then everything ends abruptly and you're taken back to that or an earlier point and asked to pick again.
As a concept it's great but the delivery was absolutely awful.

Insert "Benedict Cumberbatch" joke here.

I specifically remember in the ending where he finished the game on time and all that, he said he removed most of the choices and it was just the “illusion of choice” left, but he would decide how it ends.

Well there are multiple endings that you can get to if your choose 'correctly' at various points in the show. However there are other choices that play out as you intend but then as soon as that thing you have chosen to happen happens, it ends and then you're told to re-choose. If the gimmick was 'illusion of choice' it'd make sense but it can't be because there are alternative endings depending on which choices you make. For example: Minor spoiler alert If in the therapy session you select the option of not talking more about the incident with his mother (and still press 'no' when the therapist asks again the second time) then going forward any choice you make will take you back to the screen where it's telling you to pick the option where he talks to the therapist about his mother. If that was so integral to the plot, why make it a choice in the first place?

I know it was the 80's but could you really just make a game based on an existing book and NOT get your ass sued off in the early days?!?

Tried to watch this morning, and instead got a warning from Netflix that I couldn’t watch it on my Roku because the features weren’t supported. I guess I could plug my laptop in with the HDMI cable but now I’m just not that interested. I’m paying full price for a service that now requires me to own a certain device to access all the content, and that is bullshit.
In the grand scheme of things I know it’s a really small deal but it really rubs me the wrong way.

I've been messing around with it on and off today....pretty interesting stuff.
Just managed to get two VERY meta angles earlier this hour. That was the point I went "yeah...not topping that tonight", had a good laugh, and moved on to other things.

I gave this a try yesterday. Only thing that bothered me was that certain choices you made had you go back to a certain point and choose the other. So really you’re not directing the story at all. Sure you have control over stuff like what cassette you listen to on the bus, or what cereal you’re eating for breakfast, but I did try it and gave up.

I'll be honest... I kinda hated it.
It felt like they spent too much time on the gimmick over the writing... and felt the most of any episode I've seen to fit the rather unfair criticism of Black Mirror of "What if Phone bad?" style stuff
I mean I guess kudos for making one... but it's not entirely original as there have been chyoa movies before they're just few and far between... and there's also the problem that it doesn't work on like... anything but pc's and I think video game consoles.
edit: Alright it works on more than I thought but I know there are tons of reports of it not working on other people's stuff

Weak story and barely lets you actually dictate the story. Waste of time.

Same here And yeah I know some might claim it’s bejng meta with the whole illusion of choice being removed part of the movie but to me that’s a cop-out like when TV shows do something and then have a character say “Man if that was TV it’d be so corny”......Acknowledging it doesn’t cover the flaws in your own product

I feel like Black Mirror is essentially pointless with the world in the state it's in. Does it still have anything relevant to say?

It worked on my Samsung Smart Television. Only thing I can pull up is the trailer. Must be the smart tv I have doesn't support it.

Didn’t work on my Apple TV 4K unit (strange cause it’s is capable of playing telltale games), but works on my LG 4K TV just fine ...
Same with the Minecraft game that’s on Netflix.
Guessing the Netflix app on the Apple TV just needs an update.. cause you can get that Minecraft game in the App Store to play on the Apple TV.
