#220 - Cold Pursuit
If you love watching Liam Neeson kick ass, you’ll probably like this. But by now, I’m over the formula and I don’t need to ever see it again. [**]

224. Rampage. This was as good as any Rock movie. One good thing in this was he didn’t have an annoying ass daughter or wife bogging it down. He was actually really good himself. It was just a dumb movie. But good dumb. And I’m sorry but Jeffery Dean Morgan is forever ‘Negan’ to me. ...it was better than most Rock movies. 225. Dying Breed. This was just background noise for me. Australian accents really bother me. So annoying Australian twenty-something’s are really grating to me. One guy especially I couldn’t wait to see get eaten or smooshed or something. It got to the point where when they died I giggled. Some nice scenery in this one though. 226. Broken Lizards “Club Dread”. I’ve seen couple Broken Lizard movies and I found zero humour in them. So I didn’t know this was one of their movies until I started it. I was hoping maybe the violence would be good. But no. The violence is as bad as the comedy. Sometimes Bill Pullman was funny in this. Jay Chandrasekhar is terrible. Also, I was watching the “extended” cut and I felt every minute of its ALMOST TWO HOURS. In fact, I check at one point where I thought it for sure had to almost be over... there was still forty minutes to go.

227. L’Inferno. f***ING. BRILLIANT. I’ve never read Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ but this movie was every album cover I own come to life. So many names I’ve heard mentioned in song and story. So many beautiful images. Some really good effects for 1911. The guy carrying his own head was very clever. It’s probably public domain so I’ll link to the YouTube video of it that I watched. The soundtrack to this one works very well. It could be creepier. The colouring of this version was bad in parts but that’s probably also due to the original footage being damaged over the last one hundred years. 10/10

90. The Interview (2014) - It had been years since I had watched it. I think this was the third time I watched it overall, as the first time was in theaters (There were a couple of theaters close to my area that were showing it at the time, even if they were quite a distance from where I live) and the second time was on Netflix (Not long after seeing it in theaters, no less). I watched it on Blu Ray, which I own. Anyway, onto the critique. This film really tackled a lot of issues with the media, with the parts of people wanting news about celebrities, whereas Seth Rogen's character wanted actual news, which brought in the main plot. It had its share of laughs from the satirical jokes, as well as James Franco acting like a goofball/manchild. Randall Park did a good job as Kim Jong-un, as he was both funny and serious when necessary. It also had an unnecessary romantic subplot, but there wasn't too much focus on it.
It may be a bit weak compared to This is the End, but it still has its moments.

#221 - The DUFF
It isn’t the most original of films, but it does enough to give it a cool modern twist. Mae Whitman is wildly charming and the film has a touching romantic plot, as well as plenty of witty stuff to keep you entertained. I had a ton of fun with this. [****]

36) 2019-08-04 "Running Scared" - 1986 Billy Crystal's buddy cop movie. Yes, Billy Crystal made a buddy cop movie. Story: Hughes (Gregory Hines) and Costanzo (Billy Crystal) are Chicago cops, the kind that 'bend the rules to get results'. Trying to nail an up-and-coming drug dealer Julio Gonzalez (Jimmy Smits), they get sloppy and are ordered to go on vacation. They eventually decide to retire and enjoy life before they're killed. They return to Chicago to finish up and stop Julio... but now they're starting to re-think their reckless ways... and it may get them killed... Billy Crystal in a serious cop action movie? OK, so it's not always 'serious' but the comedy is part of how the characters act and react, it's not slapstick, the movie just doesn't STOP to do a bit of schtick and then start up again... well, it actually does, but it's as a part of the story and not just a bit by itself. And Gregory Hines is just as funny and charismatic as Crystal, they make a great team and it's a damn shame they hadn't teamed up after this, they were gold. Fun action, big shoot-em-up at the end (how odd is it seeing Billy Crystal firing an uzi?), great damn fun. No damn clue why it didn't hit big at the box office, deserves better. Highly recommended.

#222 - Coraline
This is a very good, just not great film. The animation and story are both damn good, it just never reaches the heights of the best animated features I’ve seen. [***½]

30. Naked Gun - Always a funny film. 31. Lethal Weapon 4 - I had forgotten that this was a decent end to the series, plus villainous Jet li is on form here.

#223 - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Better than Chamber of Secrets to me, though behind the rest of the films in the series. It works as a way to setup this massive universe and does well in aiming towards children. There are issues with effects, the length and some of the conflict near the end, but this was a satisfying first installment. It’s wonderfully faithful to the source material and has a heart of gold. 91. It (1990 version) - Okay, so months ago I watched It: Chapter One (What I am referring to the 2017 film from here on in), and because Chapter Two is coming out soon, I thought I'd watch the original TV movie version. Okay, the movie doesn't exactly hold up that well, given its budget and what it could cover for the most part. But Tim Curry was great as Pennywise. He definitely hammed it up in that performance. I won't compare it to the much more recent film as it doesn't really hold up that well, save for Curry's performance. If anybody has watched the more recent film and is looking forward to Chapter Two, I would only recommend it if you are REALLY curious about this version. Otherwise it's not really recommended, though like I said before, Tim Curry was just great in this film.

#224 - Serenity
There was a ton of potential for a good movie here. The acting from the leads is solid and the twist is good. It just doesn’t deliver on that premise, is kind of boring, and is poorly written. [**]

92. Whip It (2009) - Being that I started a thread about roller derby on the (w)Rest board, as well as have somewhat of an interest in it, I thought that I'd watch it (Not to mention that I had meant to watch it a while back but didn't get around to it). I enjoyed this film, especially with a lot of the derby scenes. I also enjoyed Juliette Lewis in this film as the antagonist/rival character. Ellen Page did a great job in her role, too. The only thing that I had a problem with was the unnecessary romantic subplot that could have been removed from the film altogether (Though I wonder if that was included in the novel, which I might read). Definitely deserves the praise it got, but like I said, it could have done without the romantic subplot and it would have made the movie much better.
