251. Avengers: Infinity War. This was SO much better than Endgame. I’m personally really glad that people are finally sick of the Marvel movies and their formula. Too bad they’ve already done all their damage. The more I watch them the more I hate Tony Stark and humorous quips. I enjoy the parts of this movie that DON’T have Tony Stark, Red Falcon, Black Widow and Scarlet Witch. Thankfully there was no Hawkeye, Ant-man or Captain Marvel in this one. Thanos was incredible. These movies don’t really lend themselves to repeat viewings either. All that said this movie is still a 9/10 from me just because of the last act.

121. Mommy's Prison Secret/Early Release - A Lifetime film. For those wondering, I think that "Early Release" was either the Canadian title or the title that was used for its release (no pun intended) on Amazon Prime. In either case, it's the same damn film. Anyway, it was predictable in its premise, like any other Lifetime movie. Sarain Boylan did a pretty good performance as the villain of the film, not to mention she is pretty damn hot (She also looks so much like the late Ashley Massaro). But I was entertained by the film, even there were some plot holes in there.

130. Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) that movie is so much better than it got credit for I always felt if it had come out in December, like people kinda got used to Star Wars movies doing, it would've at the very least made a decent profit. I think it was Kevin Smith who said something to the affect of "there was no reason this movie should have cost $300 million to make", and yeah, I pretty much agree with him. If they would have kept the budget to a more reasonable $100 to $150 million, they probably wouldn't have sacrificed the over-all quality and suddenly their $400 million box office becomes a much happier number.

It’s an argument that will never end but I still feel the bad taste of the Last Jedi didn’t help at all. And like you said; a December release would’ve likely helped people forget.

#279 - Creep 2
Like its predecessor, this movie hits all the notes it needs to in order to be off-putting. Mark Duplass is again tremendous in the lead role. He is genuinely creepy and you never know what he’s going to do next. It also somehow works as a solid love story in a twisted way. [***½]

252. Halloween (1978). I totally love this movie but the only times I’ve seen it were during AMCs October Horror Marathon (whatever they call it) and a lot of the violence is cut out. And it runs almost two and a half hours thanks to AMCs marathon commercial breaks. I’ve been holding off on watching this series until October for totally obvious reasons but even today (October 5th) feels too early. But it’s a classic and a classic for a reason. Great atmosphere, music, characters and Donald Pleasance is totally awesome. The second scene with all the mental patients walking around in the rain and darkness is so incredible. It’s totally tame compared to the other garbage I watch but the overall creepiness totally make it just as enjoyable as any gore-filled puke-fest. I have the rest of the series ready to go and totally hope to get to them this month because watching these movies in any month but October doesn’t feel right. 253. Halloween II (1981). This is the only of the original run of Halloween movies I haven’t seen (unless there’s a sixth) and I must say it was MUCH better than I expected. The extremely higher budget (thanks to the first ones huge success) meant a much less lo-fi creepy look and atmosphere but it’s much more violent and MUCH MORE graphic than the first one. It’s basically a 1980’s slasher film rather than a horror masterpiece but it’s better than most 1980’s slasher movies thanks to an already developed backstory and Donald Pleasance being awesome. I really liked that it picked up directly from where the first movie ended too. It was good to see some of the fallout from the first movie. 254. Happy Hunting. A pretty terrible and extremely depressing low-budget “man on the run” movie. It would have probably helped if I knew anything about narcotics. Like at the beginning they put crystal meth in a glass of water and set a timer for five minutes. Then it started bubbling and rose to the surface after two minutes. I only know that was a bad thing because the guys doing it got mad and pulled a gun on the other guy when it happened. But I don’t even know if it was crystal meth...or if they put it in water. They put a drug the guy had made in his stove in a clear liquid and set a timer for five minutes. Anyway, some junkie drug-dealer and the guys chasing him end up the unwilling participants in a small boarder town game of manhunt. In could’ve been better if not for some bad writing and pacing. There was a lot left on the table that could have gone somewhere. And there were just so many little things that were wrong. Like one guy playing what looked like a current-Gen shooter game with an 8-bit Nintendo blaster. Or when a character pulls down on a disconnect switch (into the very visible “off” position) and the power turns on. Most importantly (from IMDb.com’s Happy Hunting trivia page)

255. Joker. It was really f***ing good. I won’t compare Joquin Phoenixs ‘Joker’ to Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson’s because it’s as different a take on the character as theirs were from one another. I was captivated for the entire time. Great performance and GREAT music. The only thing I didn’t like was anything about who his father is/was. The movie didn’t need any of those ties. But the movie didn’t need any ties to Batman lore at all. I’d have been fine watching it if it was just about some f***ed up dude and was called “the f***ed Up Clown”.

#280 - Pet Semetary
This movie suffers from two major problems. First, it was flat out boring. Second, it wasn’t scary. I liked the score and some of the acting but it comes across as a lackluster horror movie at best. [*½]

256. Rambo: Last Blood. Really not very good at all, especially following the last one. I mean, the last one was not that great either but it at least had those insane, over-the-top war scenes. This was more of a “Taken”-like story. It got violent at the end but it was the midpoint between Taken and the last Rambo. One thing I was thankful for was no sex scene. There were a couple times I thought they were going to go there and I don’t need to see Stallone doing that.

257. Halloween III: Season of the Witch. This isn’t a TERRIBLE movie like most will lead you to believe. If it was released as a stand-alone movie without “Halloween” attached to it’s title it people would remember as a strange 1980’s horror movie. I’ve always liked it better than some of the Halloween movies with Michael Myers in them. I love the story (which does play into the overall Halloween franchise), the music, the dark atmosphere and “the misfire”, which I’d completely forgotten about until it happened. The only thing I don’t like is the sex scene because Tom Atkins looks about thirty years older than Stacy Nelkin. But nothing can ever change the title and it’s up to weirdos like me to tell people that it’s a good movie that they should watch and try to ignore their dumbfounded look when they realize Michael Myers isn’t in it. But I bet the jingle is stuck in their head.

Saw Joker this week, which was an amazing bit of cinema that happened to be about the Joker. Serious kudos to Todd Phillips and Joaquin Phoenix for pulling this off.
Went today to see Rambo: Last Blood. It was... alright. Nothing special. Some weak plotting and obvious character beats later we get to Home Alone: Old Man Edition. That part is a blast.
