So, like, am I the only one who thinks that Kenny isn't going anywhere? I just keep getting flashbacks to two years ago when all this same exact speculation was surrounding him, and it turned out he was working everyone. I know that AEW being a factor makes this time a little different, but my gut tells me that he's just taking some time away and keeping his name in the spotlight, just like he did two years ago. If he was definitely out the door, there is no way he and Tanahashi would be talking about how they're 1-1.

Seems like he’s AEW bound and the goal was to have a relationship with NJPW but that probably won’t be able to happen for a while. Just speculating.

They made sure to still protect his finisher during WK13. If Kenny was truly on his way out they would not only have jobbed him out but also his finisher as well. I think Kenny eventually stays.

I could easily see a deal coming together where Omega's main home is NJPW but he's also allowed to work a lot of AEW events. Davey Boy Smith Jr. has a similar deal that allows him to work places like WOS and MLW in between New Japan tours.

I think Davey Boy is actually contracted to MLW, and works New Japan tours around their schedule. Could be wrong though.

I think that is what Omega will end up doing. He'll keep NJPW as a home base and work the big AEW cards.

Yeah, as I recall most of the Suzuki-gun guys aren't full time contracted to NJPW, Smith included, so they work the tours freelance (it's the big reason why we've never had IWGP champion Minoru Suzuki). Smith's now contracted to MLW along with the rest of the Hart Foundation.

Regardless of what anybody thought of his IWGP title run (I personally think it fell a bit flat, even though it wasn't outright terrible), the fact is he drew money as champion. New Japan will not want to lose him, and will make concessions for him to work AEW regardless of whatever their relationship is with ROH moving forward.

I even wonder if they avoid signing any of the Suzuki-Gun guys to exclusive contracts to not spoil the gimmick, or if they would avoid putting anyone into the group who is full time for them.

I think he signed for a match against AJ. I mean no one thinks about it that these people can just quit their contracts (sure noncompete, but thats fair) . If I would be Omega I would sign that contract and just make up some bullshit later to get out.
Edit: Just checked he is a japanese ciitzen, gtfo you cant force someone to stay in a country. Easy to get out of. I wouldnt even worry about it with those Khan Family lawyers.

After the story broke, I thought for sure he was going to WWE. Now I feel like he's going to join AEW or stay in NJPW.
That's right, I can have my cake and eat it too.

I have it on good authority that Omega is seriously considering a run in Kaiju Big Battel.

Maybe he goes to WWE, raises his profile even more, and makes himself even more valuable to AEW in the long run when his WWE contract is up.

New Japan will want to keep Kenny around at any cost, and if making an exception for him to work AEW is how they have to do it, it's still way better than not having any Kenny at all
