So is this the first ever ladder match in Chikara Pro History? Second. The first was back in 2009, Vin Gerard vs. Jimmy "Equinox" Olsen.

That is one aspect of CHIKARA I'm glad has gone largely unchanged even in this new era. So rare are the more hardcore or violent gimmick matches that this is only the second ladder match in the company's history and because of that it feels like a way bigger deal than if they trotted out a ladder match every year. Same with things like cage matches.

Same with things like cage matches. True, but that also leads to problems where they want to keep the family-friendly reputation while also doing the hardcore stuff. Which leads to things like the Calhoun/Volgar Chain Match which, other than the bottle spot at the end, was easily one of the most boring and flaccid "unsanctioned" grudge matches I've ever seen. Not helped by the fact that the audience (understandably) seemed to be having more fun counting than watching the match, and that Luke should have lost the match multiple times if the fans hadn't actively decided to not count him out.

Not helped by the fact that the audience (understandably) seemed to be having more fun counting than watching the match, and that Luke should have lost the match multiple times if the fans hadn't actively decided to not count him out. Man, the Luke and Volgar story arc has been handled so...messily. Like, it's one of the few things I had had a general interest in during the more recent low periods in CHIKARA and not just because I was starving for content with actually meat on its bones in the promotion in terms of story and narrative. It was a genuinely interesting idea. But the crowds have been less than kind to it since pretty much the word go. One of the most annoying things when trying to enjoy it is just how checked out the Wrestle Factory crowds have been for it, often times either straight up heckling the performers or doing unrelated chants that "get the fans over". One of the biggest offenders of this being that promo Luke cut in front of them that could've been great but the fans just did not care and you could barely hear him for half of it over them heckling it. It's stuff like that that makes me really wish they'd leave the Wrestle Factory more often again. Sometimes the crowds there are absolute crap, either dead as dirt or filled with "clever" fans that have to get their quip in like they're in a Marvel movie. So I'm not even sure I'd chalk that up to CHIKARA's family-friendly reputation killing that match. The fan interest was pretty much not there from the offset.

Missile takes care of Boomer pretty easily. Boomer had him but made a rookie mistake and tried to make a pin with Missile already in the ropes instead of pulling him into the middle. Then he pulled him into the middle and went for a high spot instead of a pin.

Cam Zagami just came out dressed as Jakob Hammermeier, with the hood and everything. That's interesting.

Razerhawk wins it for his team after some Hammer assistance by Thunderfrog which knocked Zagami off his feet and led to a Razerhawk Swanton for the win.
