It’s a shame they made Joe so toothless. Because he’s still really good. I might even go as far as to say he’s my favorite promo in WWE. But they’ve made it clear, when it’s time to get it done, Joe is gonna drop the ball.

Ok... at one point in Samoa Joe’s TNA run, he took to wearing asymmetric face paint which some folks decided looked like a penis drawn on his face. This, combined with lame TNA booking and other tragic gimmick decisions such as pyjama pants and a wobbly knife, came to be as symbolic of the “lolTNA” mishandling of Joe, as much as the whole “Kidnapped by Ninjas” debacle. This video, with footage from pre Joe’s TNA run, clearly depicts him with the legendary “facepenis” long before that time. |

Prime era Samoa Joe not getting used to his best potential in TNA and not getting as over in Japan as he could have in the mid-00s because some people viewed him as a Misawa/Kawada knockoff during NOAH's golden age will never not make me sad. Dude just rules, but some of his peak years could've been even better.
We'll always have that ROH run, I suppose.

Full disclosure, the face paint was terrible and all but I think the Nation of Violence wrestling gear was the best Joe's had by a mile.
