That I just noticed when I was gonna post something in another thread. They didn't adopt the name Dodgers full time until 1932. That has to the latest date that one of the founding NL or AL teams adopted the name that is used to this day.

Not only that but they had to be the latest of the founding AL or NL teams to have adopted the name they use today.

Yeah they were the Robins for a long while until 1932 when manager Wilbert Robinson retired. I guess due to bad health since he died in 1934. They were the Superbas before he was there, and even the Bridegrooms (!?) for a while before that. It is amazing to think that Brooklyn lost 7 straight World Series before finally winning in 1955: 1916 to Boston (which was mentioned this year), 1920 to the Indians, 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, and 1953 ALL to the Yankees. I've often found it interesting that the team that was probably the Dodgers's lamest WS team, 1959, won the Series.

And now they are in LA, and like the Lakers have the name that makes no sense giving the city they are in.
