I think WWE only wants him so AEW doesnt get him. It like that little kid who hates a toy but only wants it so another kid dont get it. That's what a lot of these signings between WWE, ROH, Impact, MLW, AEW are going to end up being over the next year. People wanted the monday night wars back, and that was what it was. Ask Lanny Poffo.

Probably, though it could also be a thing of them wanting someone to shore up 205 on a star power level. Ali got promoted to the main roster, and they could put Ricochet into 205, but he'd be way overqualified. If he did get main rostered, he'd probably be on whichever brand Apollo will be on by then, given they live together. Still, though, might be to deny AEW access to him given Sydal DOES have 2 wellness strikes, so he comes with inherit risk. Though, WWE does clear one if you consent to doing a program, I remember Orton did that at some point.

Sydal was genuinely amazing to watch the best part of a decade ago, but now we have guys that do his finish from a standing position as a transitional move. And honestly, we actually had those guys THEN too, and they all had more character and mic skills than Sydal did. And yes, I mean John Morrison.

I can buy that for WWE because they are in full hoard mode, but I don't see any reason to believe that other companies have the funds to lock anyone down to a fat contract just to sit at home. The only other company with the pocketbook for that is possibly AEW but they haven't even settled onto a full roster or run shows yet so putting down expectations on how they'll use their roster is premature.

I think part of his problem is that he can be a face, but I can't really buy him as a heel while he'd be doing his moveset. Neville can do both, Jack Evans can be a great obnoxious heel, Morrison/Mundo/Impact can work heel, Ospreay can heel, and I can see Ricochet probably being a good heel if he wants to. Rob Van Dam in ECW was a phenomenal heel with his whole shtick of "I'm too good for ECW and this whole thing is beneath me". Sydal really has to be able to find the ability to show a mean streak, and to get his ego to be something he can channel into his character, or he's going to be faced with the problem of a lot of guys, like PJ Black/Justin Gabriel, etc, doing what he does, but without a weird foot.

I thought he had the brightest future out of everyone from Generation Next. In the wwe he was moving up the card before the failed wellness tests, then the car crash derailed him forever.

I think he did okay as the obnoxious heel with his third eye shtick but he never really changed his moveset. He has the ability to do a smarmy heel who you want to punch in the face at a decent level but he has to put the full presentation together which includes gimmick, ring gear, moveset.
