For the life of me I can't remember what Jericho did in the GRR

Okada reportedly makes two hundred and fifty grand a year in New Japan. I’m calling bullshit on Jericho getting a hundred grand per match.
If njpw actually pays him that then they’re making Eric Bischoff type of awful decisions in running the company.

Hey, if he's able to get that much, more power to him. At least he's putting on great matches and putting guys over.

I think he did 3 matches last year so it's not outside the realm of possibility he could get paid that much for matches
I assume his appearances fit into that fee as well

New Japan doesn’t have that type of money to pay per match. Neither does the wwe. Jericho got that in the grr because the dictator’s family are multi billionaires. If Jericho’s getting that type of money for doing so little work, then if I’m Okada or Naito, I’m pissed off.

It's 100K per match knowing he isn't working 20 matches that year, he's working 3 matches tops
Same with WWE, that was a one off payment not something he's getting paid every time he wrestles

Yeah according to Meltzer he makes so much money he doesn’t need a wwe deal. Ok njpw you have more money than I thought.

Unfortunately, high prices such as 10,000 Yen for Cole Slaw sort of offset that.

They are making money and obviously showing you they are by their overseas tours and just way they are going about business
Potentially spending 300K on Chris Jericho is an expense they can eat

He’s probably right about that being all he saw because he was at Calgary Comic Con the next day.

Especially since he's had a marked effect on NJPW World sales. I'll give Jericho grief sometimes, but he's been singing for his supper. Makes me curious if he's going to be used similarly for AEW, or if he'll be more regular. Then again, we really don't know that much about what the schedule for the company will be like, anyway, if it's going to be a regular weekly show or not.

So basically the only time they used him to little effect was the match with Evil he had at KOPW. Honestly if they are just bringing him in for the really big events 100k is too bad for a guy who is going to get a lot of eyes on your product

He's earned that 100K per match thanks to the eyes he's put on the product and gotten them more subscriptions in his 2 years there so he's done his job as a draw
I assume if AEW has a weekly show than Jericho is probably as close to full time as possible. If anything he pops in for maybe 2 months a time and then disappears but also considering he still is wanting to work with NJPW, I think he's going to be calculated with his time to keep things open for himself

Chris Jericho likes to say it's not about the money.
But this has to be the 4th interview in recent memory where he talks about the money.

The money wasn't there a few years ago, but as they've grown and steadied their finances, the money has been getting better. They wouldn't be flying in all the foreign talents if they didn't have money to burn, and if anything that has slowed down in the past few years. They won't have the money to throw around huge leverage deals on everybody the way WWE can and that'll probably mean strategically letting people go if there are a lot of raids, but the top guys aren't likely to be going anywhere.

I think eith new Japan it might sound alot for a few matches but it's not necessarily the case about the matches as much as it is about getting western fans eyes on new Japan and hoping they'll stick around.
