Hello FAN,
Advice is needed, here. semi long story oncoming.....
So, a while back, I met an absolutely perfect woman. This woman is everything I've ever looked for in another person. She has some baggage, but at our age, who doesn't? Anyway, I'll cut to the chase. Her brother passed away about two weeks ago. After talking and or textig almost constantly, she completely shut down. Completely understandable, I think. So, after barely hearing from her for a week and a half, I heard from her today, and she told me she "definitely needs to take a step back from everything at the moment".
What does this mean? Is it over, just like that? Should I give her a few weeks, then reach out?

Give her a bit of space, tell her to get in contact with you if she needs to speak to anyone. Let her know you’ll check in on her in a few weeks. Nothing much else you can do really.

I would tell her “here if ya need” and go radio silent cause I mean, shit, that’s probably really heavy. Specially if they were really close.

yeah that's a very typical and understandable response from grief stricken people. Don't take it personal at all. Gotta give her space for the time being.

Be available, but not stifling. Like, yeah, tell her you'll be here if you need her, maybe check in after a while, but sounds like she wants and needs a bit of space, which is understandable.

Everybody grieves differently. I second the “here if you need” advice. Be patient and let her make the move when she is ready
