God damn Dustin brought his A game there. They still need to prove they can do a weekly show but these guys know how to produce compelling segments like that.

Ah, I adore wrestling. Is all that talk still bullshit then?

Remember the last Cody/Goldust that was so bad it stopped WWE from doing anything with either of them for a year?

Does Dustin get a backstage job after this? I really liked the DDP and Glacier coming out with Cody for the NWA title match. I dont mind if Dustin does comedy with Cody, a la Booker T.

I guess I’m just thankful that nepotism has kept an exciting, fresh talent from being bogged down in a Cody snoozefest. Remember the last Cody/Goldust that was so bad it stopped WWE from doing anything with either of them for a year? Fast Lane a few years back. What a disappointment. They wanted to have a match at Mania too.

I mean, I’m willing to give the match a shot considering the promo and what they can do outside the ever changing backstage atmosphere of WWE.
Or we can be cynical and judge from the one match they had, I don’t know.

Dustin hasn’t wrestled in a while and there’s plenty of people that just hate Cody matches. I’m willing to give it a shot since I love Dustin but it’s at the bottom of (announced) card interest for me.

I wasn’t even saying it was an either or and I understand people’s opinions are different, the thing I just find weird is considering what we know about WWE and how shows work and the like, if this match at DoN sucks, I’ll gladly admit they just don’t have the chemistry and that’s fine.

Say what you want about how good the actual match will be.
But that promo by Dustin is f***ing great.

This match is a good idea, no one is going to expect a 5 star classic out of these two and the promos will have the crowd invested in the match. Its a good palate cleanser.
This also gives me hope for how they are going to use Cody in the future. Its almost as if hes being used in his own little mini universe where he pretends its the 1980s and it works because people really care about him and it provides another style of wrestling.

Solid piece of business there from Dustin, but the facepaint looks a little...."Demon Balor-y"?

Cody's my AEW MVP so far, I like that his stuff has had more of a story to it.

I thought Goldie was still under WWE contract. Well, he probably was a few weeks ago when he barked on twitter that he was still in WWE.

An early test of AEW's structural durability - Will Cody book himself and his brother in a self-indulgent, forty minute saga of false finishes, 'brutal' brawling and increasingly exhausted lungs? I'm guessing not. I doubt Dustin can go for more than about ten or fifteen minutes at a decent tempo, and I'm sure both he and Cody are aware of that.

I think they can tell a good story and have a good brawl. But I also think one of the reasons they have the Bucks, Cody, and Kenny all running the operations is because they all bring a different idea that will help the company. The Bucks bring a desire to make tag wrestling cool again. Kenny brings the big match feel and match building. Cody brings the ability to build a match and any talent through video

Being honest, Dustin being involved diminishes my interest in the show. Been ages since I've actually wanted to watch him and he and Cody's last match was awful.
Granted that last one could easily be on the way it was laid out, WWE frequently struggles with that, but end of the day I can't really see anything Dustin could be doing at this point that couldn't be done better by someone else.
